The comparision is more often about the MCAP and SP growth, rather than the specific route taken to get to that point.

That said if theres a choice between a JV that gives us 25% of a resource in a couple of years, and us going it solo and it taking 5 years to make profit after lots of raises, I'm damn sure hoping that the JV comes along

944 - I think you're looking at it the wrong way round. If there was a placement going on it'd be hard to sell and easy to buy, as there would be participants trying to dump a load of stock.

TalkingSense - I think you misunderstand me. GGP is making me profit hand over fist, and its doing it in a steady progression without any real spikes. Thats good for me as it requires very little maintenance.

ECR I have a nice sized holding too, and over 12 - 24 months should also make me a big wodge of profit.

I used to be the sort of person who would go in heavily in something i believed in, and it didn't pay off. Sepura, Cloudtag and Sirius being some particularly painful examples.

I now build my holdings methodically, and while i may miss out on some of the biggest gains by not having enormous holdings, i also don't leave myself at risk of getting wiped out again. This attitude has seen me get large amounts of grief when i've mentioned i've banked a slice of profits, but it fits my risk profile, and i'd bet i sleep a lot better on the red days than some people who have gone in much heavier

djwallis - Don't get me wrong. I've got a nice holding here too, actually number of shares wise its a bigger holding than i have in GGP.

I just won't be moving GGP money here as that is giving me bag over bag over bag.

Either way i'm not sad that i'm holding both

D1ll - I'm tempted to agree, but only looking at current prices. Choosing between GGP at 33.5p and ECR at 3.5p I'd choose ECR.

However I won't be moving any of my GGP money over here as my average buy in price is considerably lower than the current price, so i would make my initial stake back much quicker, than if i put the same amount into ECR

I have a series of slicing targets, that i have in place via sell orders. I've researched, I know when my holdings will be getting top heavy in my portfolio, and will slice accordingly.

I'll end up holding the cash for a week or two incase theres a retrace, and if not will diversify.

EWT -Its almost a self fulfilling prophesy at this point. PA suggests that a double bounce off the bottom bollinger will cause a rise. And it will. Because PA disciples will buy en mass at that point, causing the rise

We didn't JV Scally so we could drill it up more. We've barely done any drilling in the time since, as we're still waiting for the results due to the delays in the labs.

Because Scally is nothing to do with Newcrest.

And theres no way we'd do a JV with them on Scally now just a couple of months after they've completed the other two JVs

Joff - Correct. If a major said to their broker "Get us 25% of UFO, but we don't want to pay too much" their buys would be drip fed into the market in order not to spook a rise, but they wouldn't have to notify until they owned 25%.

If they got to 20% and said "You know what, don't worry about that last 5%" then they'd have to notify at that point

If you're committed to buying or selling a block of shares that will take you through numerous boundaries, you only have to notify when your trading is complete

Unless you're planning on selling at the scally results who cares when they come?
