I think they may well cut the rate, it will give the new government a sort of illusion tactic moving forward. The BOE missed a trick over the last few years in the fact that they didn't rise rates once as the economy picked up, this has helped the market but it has given much less room for manoeuvre regarding stimulus if things took a turn for the worse. Dropping to 0.25 is risky in the sense that there is really only another 0.25% to play with however it allows them to raise rates quicker on a forward looking basis (even if its only back to 0.5%) which will give a sense of improvement in the economy whilst the European block will still be fighting to lift off from 0% based on the fact they have no more stimulus left in the bag. For this reason I also think we will end up with a good deal regarding trade and passporting as the EU will need our business to add any value they can to their economies. Regards your £3 comments, I think that's only a matter of time, £4 not out of the question. And who knows, with Osborne doing his rounds at the moment SL could end up with a bigger market than they had before. So from this terrible SP movement of late the future looks rather bright.... once the dust has settled I'm sure others will realise this too.
I think with Theresa May now coming to power there is confidence within the Financial Sector that she can negotiate well on behalf of the city. Good news for SL.
Its that time..... where you fill your boots and let time do its thing.
There's some battle going on today, bears vs bulls!
Morning HFWizard, yea it looks like someone selling, but selling very aggressively using a computer, looks to have subsided (for now) and we should be due a decent bounce here. The trade would have to be reported after crossing certain thresholds, they may not have passed a percentage but they were certainty hitting the bid when stock was loaded. I totally agree with you on the bargain status of this stock, I've held for around 1 year now but just topped up on the results and think it has good prospects with Japan coming online at some point this year! Im also hoping for a remain vote which will reduce a lot of uncertainty around the currency fluctuations, all good news for the SP
Its actually a joke to observe this stock. There is someone loading the ask and nailing the bid. Did it all yesterday and are doing it again today. The stock rises when there is no auto volume going through, then when the auto starts to tick it gets dropped quicker than people can get behind it
6000 ish shares on the ask @ 127 then a gap back upto 133, someone is pushing it down right now
There is a computer selling stock at the moment, its an algo that's trading about 50% of the volume. Its adding stock to the ask and hitting the bid. I've topped up here because it looks like someone is exiting a position and normal service will resume once that's finished
Looks oversold and rather attractive at these levels!!
Its as exactly the same amount of downside potential....
I don't understand why the management wouldn't be trading FX swaps/forwards on the debt, securing rates on an on-going basis in turn giving a fixed payment. It may cost to arrange these contracts, but only a fraction of what was lost by not doing so!! The results look really good other than that!
*alls
It was at lunch time and it went very well.... De-coupling of the satellite is later this eve but Alps looking good! Gla
Could be something to do with successfully launching the satellite that is needed to give coverage for the whole world??? As the last one failed!
took a battering at open!
Good results, 600k ahead of consensus on the profits @16.6 mil, eps of 12.4 diluted. All looking very nice
There was a sale of 10k earlier and it just looked like some twitchy holders got nervous pre results and dumped a couple of thousand, there wasn't much on the bid so it knocked it down a few pence. The results are tomorrow as im sure you know and based on the trading update, recent acquisitions plus updated broker ratings, the general consensus is they will be good!
Nice start to the week, BUY upgrade from FINNCAP target 285. Also todays acquisition adds to the EPS and profits... All looking very nice indeed here!
I think a lot of the trades from yesterday that were put through were orders filled buy a market maker over a longer period, say over a month, volume is fairly low on this stock which means either a MM has been mopping up bits to fill this order since the price started rising a bit back or it was a negotiated deal between 2 parties, hence no price movement as it did not effect supply & demand
Great buying volume! Stake building continues
