...they actually rely on punters' egos telling themselves they surely could not have been quite that stupid as to be taken in by a scam, and several other psychological manipulation techniques, to make the hustle work (check these out here - at least a couple of these have almost certainly been present on this bb https://www.spring.org.uk/2010/01/the-7-psychological-principles-of-scams-protect-yourself-by-learning-the-techniques.php).
Luckily, I'm way off retirement/death so in time I can recover but this has changed my views on investing/pre-profit businesses forever.
No, a street hustle is about giving the impression of one thing - in the PIs case, giving out the PR that there was a real possibility that the board would make a genuine effort to get the company live as its own entity, capitalised with the shares PIs bought at the 15p raise or prior, as he was chirping about jolly hockey sticks and £1 a share, when in fact, on the balance of probability, there was never going to be anything other than his fait accomplis with JPM and AA.
That they still have people defending them as a genuine gamble on a high-risk investment beggars belief, and is down to their hustling.
Yeah, it wasn't a con, just a street hustle. We've all been had, royally.
On the basis of past performance, strategic tailwinds, and the founder of the fund, this seems a great long-term bet to remain low-risk but with promising capital returns.
Myo, I think it would help people to trust you if you declare your financial position / interest in this share.
I reckon Robert Maxwell and Chris Fraser aren't so different either.
KB, the stitch up was about a year and a half back when they knew they would not deliver on ST1 and that it was therefore likely doomed, but kept maintaining there was a way forwards for SXX to survive as a standalone project/business.
Karma awaits. Remember Maxwell...
Kettle, I reckon because no professional investor would trust them after ST1 failed. No one wanted to take any risk in SXX for ST2 because they had shown they couldn't be trusted. Good investors obviously give you one chance and that's that. PIs obviously carried on believing the dream and that's why they (and I) are amateurs.
That's my guess.
Yes, it's been kind of a scam - as ST1 never came close to delivering anything like what was meant to be - but a perfectly legal one.
They knew for a long time before the announcement of ST2 that they were never going to deliver any thing like what they promised with ST1. Once they failed to deliver on ST1, that was that, but they had to quietly keep the PIs dream alive so that their money could be used to bridge the gap between de facto failure of the business and this rescue deal; there was no chance of PIs who stayed invested in the long term success of SXX as its own business, after ST1 had failed, ever actually getting their money back.
IAAM, would be surprised if Frasier hasn't received threats from some enraged s.h. yet.
Oldham, sorry to hear it. I lost £14.5k. Devastating when I think of the hard graft - slaving in the city, my health eventually suffering - that went into saving that up. Devastating.
Thanks.
The SP bid of 5.5p confirms everything we already knew about Sirius leadership being incompetent c**** who couldn't organise a p*** *p in a brewery.
Never forget they've shafted the vast majority of 85000 LTHs who trusted them with life savings.
Used to be 85,000.
Can't be anything like that now?
Indeed, makes a change from falling by 80%.
Season's greetings everyone!
Pump and dump worked. There's still no actual light at the end of the tunnel, despite what the dreamers are claiming re "strategic investors doing due diligence" currently.
Same old, same old SXX story. Pot of gold at the end of the rainbow looks huge. Huge, I tell you!
First two sentences say it all. 'Wise after the event' would be an understatement.
Yeah, wish they would **** off and keep their claimed purchases to themselves.
What a feeling!
What a feeling!
Bein's believin'
I can have it all
Now I'm dancing for my life....
Etc.
Glad you feel that.
