AFC Energy plc (AFC.L), the industrial fuel cell power company, is pleased to announce that it has signed a formal Project Development Agreement ("PDA") with two South Korean partners: Samyoung Corporation ("Samyoung") and Changshin Chemical Co. ("Changshin") for the deployment of an initial 50MW of fuel cell generation capacity in Daesan, Korea.

Highlights

· 50MW of installed fuel cell capacity across two phases

· Expected revenue of approx. US$1bn for the joint venture over 10 years of operation

· First phase of 5MW to be operational by end of 2016 (subject to permitting)

How much of that $1B have we received over the last 8 years ?

How much of the installed or in development capacity of 1Gw by 2020 have we realised ?

The reality is that over the last 10 years there have been multiple agreements, partnerships, MOUs, but zero commercial traction despite years of ‘we are gaining commercial traction’, ‘we are seeing growing interest’.

Says the guy posting rubbish himself. An extra £2m from ABB ? Nope. We’ve already had £600k, the remaining £1.4m dependant on AFC delivering the 200kw system. They only have until 31st October to realise this amount before the financial year end, ie less than 5 months.

In one of our recent field deployments, the customer, using real life data, compared fuel costs of AFC Energy’s H- Power Tower to their incumbent diesel generators, and concluded AFC Energy’s cost per kW of fuel used was just a 14% premium to diesel, despite the current high pricing for hydrogen.

I wonder what the premium is now that diesel has dropped from £1.99 a litre to £1.49 a litre ?

Wow, look at the abuse towards AFC on twitter after the pathetic attempt at highlighting the analysts views that nobody can view, hardly surprising, if they can’t even do simple PR how are they going to commercialise fuel cells ?

Well that’s rather embarrassing posting on LinkedIn an article that opens with nothing there and then having it pointed out by a LinkedIn member that the link doesn’t work, but then AFC are used to embarrassment because nothing is working.

We’re on the tipping point, we were on the cusp, accelerating towards sales, on the glidepath to sales, on the hockey stick curve and now the tipping point. Does Bond spend all his time on management buzzword courses ?

Were issued on 29th June last year. That’s going to be grim reading. Will there be any additional revenue recognised for the ABB system, there is still £1.4m of revenue outstanding, if there isn’t then the SP will be decimated.

There will be a tiny amount of revenue from power tower rental and that’s it, maybe £50k revenue for the last 6 months ?

It was also far superior to anything in the market….a bit like the new ammonia cracker. Bond is about as trustworthy as Boris and Scofe.

They have made tangible progress towards sales, they’ve hired a BD person from ABB. Hang on, didn’t we snatch a general manager from Rolec ? How did that go ? Was that also tangible progress towards sales ?

Seen it all before, look at all the junk products in the slip in the car park. It’s all when and good spending millions on R&D and manufacturing scale up and consultants but if the final product takes too long to build, costs too much to make and the fuel you put in it is too expensive (all Bonds words not mine), then frankly you may as well have stayed in bed. These are not small hurdles to overcome and it’s a fiercely competitive market. Not a single order from the trials that have been going on for a year now.

Why is it very cheap ? I doubt they are even taking orders for the power towers right now, I mean why would you if they take too long to build and cost to much to make, it makes no sense to even bother trying to sell them until you can get the costs down, so back to the drawing board, there is currently no clear path to revenue generation

At least we will now have a source of cheap hydrogen. If Bond can’t sell anything when this plant goes live well….

Tbh I think he’ll move on soon, running out of cash and another fundraiser would be doomed at present.

Garonne, they’re not going to tell us every time there is a new deployment. However they’re quite happy to tell us about unimportant visits from Japan and an MP !

No sign of an order coming from anywhere despite accelerating towards sales, manufacturing ramp up, 50+ qualified leads, how best to announce the order book, etc etc. there is literally nothing going on sales wise.
