Final point from me before i bugger off out. You will probably find most of the companies (and sipp investers too) have performed badly this year with the markets like they are, so if its just a one year blip you might want to stay put. Good luck with it all though, its not easy for sure

Eviking, im pretty 'anti' the pensions market anyway as i was miss-sold one in the pensions scandal when i was 17, hence me self investing and using a sipp once id sussed my earlier company out. Im 51 now, so will draw down my yield from 55 onwards and pump that money into ISA's each year unless i fancy a spend up.
If i had my time again, id not bother at all with a pension, id chuck it all in an ISA instead. At least that way you can have your money when you want, not wait for the moving goalposts of fixed ages and id sooner pay the tax initially on the smaller amount when i invest too, rather than the bigger tax hit on the larger pot when you actually take the income - if you get that far.

Boark is right with (a) checking value (b) checking for 'exit' fees and other charges.
For each £100k in my sipp HL were ofeering an annuity of around £2500pa, robbing b'stards, you can earn much much more just taking the natural yield out in divis (even now) and you dont have to give them your pot either. Legalised theft the pension annuities market, a complete bunch of crooks.

eviking, with that sort of money you need to talk to an IFA, not a bunch of blokes on a forum that you dont know, be well worth paying for proffesional advice i think. my sipp, fwiw, is with HL, not the cheapest but an idiot proof simple platform to use.

What you have to realise with todays 'news' is it is a FORECAST not a fact, and is assumed over a long period of the future. The truth is, nobody knows how the world will be in one year five years or ten years, no less or more than the BP board. You only have to look at the UK (and worldwide) news with all those huge crowds of tightly packed protestors to see that the vast majority of the populations are fed up of being locked down and so ignoring it. Doubt they will be bothered about being cooped up in a metal cylinder either. The policy of quarantine is a good one - but its at least 3 months too late. It'll definately be pulled very soon.
