Coockicrew.. you won’t regret it ... and don’t worry about typos!!
Stena Europe is one of the line's favourite now vintage ships.Built as long ago as 1981 in Gothenburg Sweden she is truly an "old faithful". Her recent maintenance history is not without incident. In March 2019 The Turkish Gemek Shipyard secured a contract to give the ship "a life extension "refit. This essentially involved enabling higher density trailers to use all of the ship, not just the port side on the usual route Fishguard to Rosslare. Something went wrong with the contract, something to do with lack of availability of specialist parts ! She did not return to service until early Autumn 2019 .Fancy having to send "the old girl" all the way past Gibralter to the Bosphorous ..should have gone to Belfast .. Anyhow Stena now know better and she will be on her way probably tomorrow as currently she is approaching Fishguard ...by the way, the NI Ferries Site indicates that she will dock in the main Building Dock not the smaller Dry Dock due to an issue with the gate at the latter ..sincerely hope that this in not serious or indeed expensive !! Need to Watch this one.But good news in that Stena are well on board...Stena Europe will be "high maintenance " due to age !!
Agreed.. Dynamic and Progressive.. am particularly impressed with the cover or header photo which depicts/ includes a large area of industrial estate outside our boundaries.. but feel free to correct me if I am wrong!!
N.I. needs investment more than ever now ---Bombardier news today !! SS Infa's voyage needs some following winds behind her to shift the mighty ship from the doldrums !!
These will persist whilst Sellers are on board ...we have to set up the plank soon this month before we sight land as when we do we need a fair wind and a good ride to shore !!
It sure has had a significant impact upon our voyage as well as on all our lives .....a bit like a hurricane whipping up the seas to a frenzy and by no means not over yet. Most Government Departments are in a mess including the Probate Section ( delays of up to 3 months as reported in The Times today ),the Passport Office and of course other departments that we know well !....Not sure about good old Daera but hopefully they would have been able to assimilate a lot of the information before Lockdown and still be "on the ball."
News in today that Covid is significantly affecting prospects for Bombardier next door to H&W -They employ just under 3,000 workers.Their establishment is basically a satellite facility for other bigger units elsewhere .JW and team secured H&W on the premis of a plan for increasing the workforce and providing apprenticeships over a period ..he had a plan not just short term asset stripping ..should Bombardier fail then there is more reason for N.I.Gov. support for our project .Covid is a disruptor for sure but here there is an opportunity .Watch this space. Hold tight !!
...what a wonderful Group of Risk Takers !! The Webby Site certainly is overdue for an update as Steven is not shown and of course the total amount of shares floating ?? about out there is understated .Not sure of the cost of updating more frequently so if there is a cost factor am not that bothered ....just at present !!
Tango .. always remember your humourous comments here .. and we still need them and also for some other Short Termers to jump . Am not aware now of the position with the Warrant Holders but they always struck me as an entanglement on the rudder !! But Barrow is a beauty as is the town ... well at least in the Summer !!
......still persist whilst the Easterly Covid winds blow but the Crew have steadied the boat recently by showing top faith in the Captain and one or two of the Short Termers have gone overboard. Calmer waters may appear sooner than you think but today without knowledge of the timing of the ML decision and something more definitive about H&W ( one Isle of Man Ro-RO is not really enough ) the waters remain unsettled ..hold on tight as there is a lot riding on this voyage !!
Me too .have been buying --blues are blues !!--.the last two are not mine though !!!
Remember folks that not all sells are "sells " .This week may be changeable but June ...and July will be hot !!
Tuesday ---should be in the Blue judging by last week and all the recent "Buys" --we shall see but we are slowly getting close to >>>>>>>**** !!
At least they will be delighted with the "quick " turnaround ..in time for an evening sailing from Larne ?? Maybe we will have a few more next week in readiness for ferries soon to be needed again ?!
Yes,Chris .well spotted on your app .Not sure if the previous owners had P&O "on board" but this is a 20 year old ship and probably needs much maintenance ..not a bit like the BRAND NEW Chinese Built Stena Estrid which is laid up at Loch Ryan Port near Cairnryan with major engine troubles.we do need however some rather larger units in the big dock --they WILL come .I am assured !!
..The Brand new Stena Lie N.I. Ferry hot from China is undergoing urgent repairs to at least one of it's German Built Caterpillar Engines at Loch Ryan Port -Not sure if H&W engineers can go over and offer a helping hand ...see N.I. Ferry News today .Stena are bringing over a replacement Stena Nordica from Rotterdam as we speak ...Interesting !!
Am still here too ... waiting patiently!!!
Well done, Stephen in joining the I.I.'s ..or at least two of them ----you own the top right section of Samson and I am not referring to "scrap" value as hopefully both it and Goliath will be in good productive and constant us soon !!
Well, the Youtube podcast/interview with Donald Leggatt of LSE came and went in the week !
On the positive side as always JW came over as confident and eloquent using his wry Scottish accent and smile to best effect throughout with minimal interruptions to the flow and certainly not boring at all. "Now Look Ya here " seems to be his catch phrase !
We have a Midcap of about 8m. In anticipation of the interview and only partly as a result of the announcement on Tuesday of receipt at last of E.U. funds, there was seemingly exuberant activity in the market with over 1.2m value of shares purchased....now that is some value indeed with no real news on the Monday. So there is certainly pent up interest and demand but there will always be sellers until we have positively sound news not just " hope and expectation" as Fredr commented on Wednesday .
On the negative side we are still not clear as to the real reason for the extension of the consultation period,do we have any orders/work in the short term for the yard and are the employees being furloughed ?
JW is correct to say that he is not going to announce every new docking but the podcast gave no indication of actual likely occupation of both docks in the next 6 months as only reference to various "pipelines" and break even by year end .No mention of Barrow and any extension of the FSRU project. Only a glancing comment !
So we just have to hope that ML will indeed be just 4-6 weeks away with no hiccup, that H&W do have some firm dockings scheduled and that the money men and financiers have not given up on the project after Covid-19 and can still lead us to FID say by June/July ---hope indeed ! If JW pulls FID off and keeps H&W ticking over to break even he will have secured a blinder for this AIM Tiddler --One last thing..... there are increasing rumours of employment issues in N.I. and Larne area is not excluded !!
Interesting reminder Loosegoose of the “February Leg Breakers” ‘s terms ....but where would we be now without that working capital and could we achieve any such financing in the current market !! ? Just need some news that there is work in hand for April-May.
I hope they put the lights out before closing the dock gates ...and left a Bankers Order or even better "Cash " in the secret place ...no doubt there will be another ferry soon ..will let you know !!
