Has he heard of Globalisation!? As for commenting on Hutchison China Meditech it's useful to look at who is invested, why they are invested and the Company's track record. I continue to buy.
make that $3.75bn mcap for a Co with a smaller pipeline, no current revs ..... the fact Celgene have made a direct equity stake giving immediate Shareholder value is excellent. I will now stop talking about BGNE!
BGNE mcap now $3.5bn approx $700m more than hours but no current revs, much smaller pipeline but a great deal with Celgene from what I can gather...................just think what will happen when we get deals for our wholly owned assets such as Epitinib and Sulfatinib
The problem we have is that they've been trying to get a Farmout deal for Barryroe for years and there have been no takers. There are literally dozens and dozens of potential farmout deals around but none of the big players are remotely interested, especially with current oil prices.
This is a great concept - a deal for licensing also includes the major player taking a stake in the smaler Biotech which delivers an immediate and tangible benefit to existing Shateholders
Not that Im selling for many years but it is nice to at least have paper gains
Like the Directors, I continue to buy
Sorry for the off topic content here but Celgene are to take a 5.9% stake in Beigene at $59.55 a share which is interesting!
Is that the way other Big Pharmas will proceed now, by taking a direct investment in smaller Companies with late stage pipelines? No wonder BGNE has gone from $30 to $52 since January.

Interesting article in this mornings WSJ regarding Big Pharma targeting the Chinese market.

Local upstarts aren’t far behind. Hutchison China MediTech Ltd. , which counts Hong Kong billionaire Li Ka-shing among its backers, has sought approval for its first drug in China—a compound to fight colorectal cancer. Additional tests are planned for the same drug to work on patients with lung and stomach cancer.
“What’s important—whether it’s Big Pharma or companies like ours—is that drugs are now specifically being designed for Chinese patients,” said Chi-Med’s Chief Executive Christian Hogg. “Patients are absolutely going to be the winners in this.”
For anyone like me, who wishes to understand more about the science behind Immuno-Oncology, here is a great guide for the layman, detailed but an easy read

Particularly interesting to me as I have Malt Lymphoma.......but I also wish to understand as much as I possibly can about my investment, and not just the sector and the financials
I agree, especially with interims due on the 31st and the following all still to come in the next few weeks/months:-
Epitinib Phase II/III in first-line patients with EGFR-mutant NSCLC with brain metastasis.
Savolitinib Phase III in combination with Tagrisso® (osimertinib) in second-line NSCLC (T790M-/c-Met+).
$40m dividend due from Commercial JV by end June
Savolitinib PRCC Possible U.S. NDA under BT designation in 2017 (pending FDA questions)
Lilly decision by end May on whether to commercialise Fruq outside of China (decision can be delayed for a further year if they wish, but will have to pay more)
Plus we must not forget that there are 2 or 3 things being worked on, any one of which would significantly change 2017 financial guidance.....interesting times ahead
Fantastic news about the commencement of Phase III. Not unexpected but very welcome.....
I look forward to the interim results on my birthday, the 31st of July!
very odd Matt, but then again, its the ADR price that seems to be in control now anyway thanks to generally higher volumes. In the meantime I continue to buy, following recent Director purchases!
Nasdaq Biotech Index up 10% in the last week and 20% YTD - clearly this sector is now back in favour after Clinton's failed Presidential bid and the news last week that drug pricing controls will be far less onerous than first thought
