Correct me if I'm wrong but what we have had today is the CEO goes on Sky News to talk about the test that will be produced in a prestigious consortium and not surprisingly the share price rises rapidly. The news reporter makes a mistake inferring that all tests will be produced by ODX and the CEO has to ensure that is corrected with an RNS.
Is this not something that anyone with at least some knowledge of the company should already have known as we are in a consortium as in a consortium and not alone as in not alone?
The RNS although could have been perhaps worded better states that the test WILL be manufactured just not alone as should already be understood by investors and that the lack of material reason for a rise bit relates to the fact that no RNS has been released yet. Increased interest in the share and the understandable overall rise is due to the fact that we have just had the CEO on a major news channel talking about the imminent release of a product with massive potential demand.
It reminds me of the 'mine's better than yours' rivalry between ZX Spectrum and C64 computer owners when I was a kid lol. Both were pretty good for their time. AVCT is probably the C64 with some better features and likely upgrading to Amiga with the other stuff it's got going on.
Well I moved 30% of my GGP holding over here a few days ago - it made around 9% and I've now moved it to ODX (in which my investment was small compared to AVCT) but still have a good chunk of my ISA here - more than ODX in fact. To say ODX will be hype is going too far IMO but the news today does not change the status of AVCT obviously. It doesn't take a genius to see the huge market potential for quick, cheap home covid testing kits. If anything I would imagine the demand for the antigen kit would be higher.
Well I moved 30% of my GGP holding over here temporarily to add to what I have already this morning at 1.82. My intention is to buy back the shares I sold but not until next week playing it by ear and likely leaving some profit here if all goes well. So far its working!
Covid19 isn't going anywhere in a hurry. The 4 coroanviruses that will give you a common cold keep reinfecting people throughout their lives despite exposure since childhood, already it's being suggested that c19 immunity is only temporary and no coronavurus has ever been successfully vaccinated against. The resources being thrown at it are unprecedented but I sincerely doubt someone will come up with a magic potion and just eradicate it. Mass testing will be required for some time to come.
"This thing's not going to stop until it infects 60 to 70% of people," Michael Osterholm, report author and the director of CIDRAP, told CNN. "The idea that this is going to be done soon defies microbiology."

Rorkes Drift I didn't wake up reading the YP I read that yesterday lol and was working through until 6:30am UK time this morning before sleeping.
Lazypunter it was good to read your post being a Yorkshireman working with Norwegians atm who seem to make capitalism work pretty well for their people. I was going to transfer some money from GGP yesterday but as it had dipped a bit I didn't - something to put down to experience. My ISA is fairly modest so it's no huge loss. I will be topping up when an opportune moment next presents itself.
Thanks guys. Yes I was reading in the Yorkshire Post about the collaboration yesterday - I should have bought more on reading it! I'm still considering topping up tbh. I was hoping (selfishly) it wouldn't take off until the end of the month when I'll have more funds but still, fantastic performance today :)
Hi I'm in a different time zone and woke up to this pleasant surprise. There has been such a flurry of exited posting since last night I'm having difficulty pinning down a precise reason/s. Pls forgive my ignorance but can anyone enlighten me? Ty :)
"Dr Alastair Smith, chief executive of Avacta, said: “I am delighted to have entered into this distribution agreement with Medusa19, which will provide a global route direct-to-consumer for Avacta’s rapid point-of-care Covid-19 antigen test."

I would tend to agree that covid19 isn't going anywhere in a hurry. The four corona viruses that will give you a common cold (although not exclusive to that condition) keep reinfecting people throughout their lives despite exposure since childhood - they've never been successfully vaccinated against although the resources being thrown at this strain are unprecedented.
I'm happy with my relatively modest holding and will be increasing it at the end of the month if it has not taken off by then. I'm no pharma expert but its fairly clear ODX are in a very strong position atm for a golden ticket with their consortium as with a test that could really be game changer.
Thank you MoreThanMe. Yeah I'm at UTC-2 time zone atm so was sleeping. Still I'm happy with the price :)
I've been following this board for a few weeks now. I'm no expert in pharma but thanks to some of the more informative posters its fairly clear if this gets to market it will be big and its the front runner for antibody testing. I moved 10% of my modest ISA in at 50.99 with and am looking forward to the coming weeks. Glad to be onboard :) GLA
