The times myself and Mrs Darth have eaten out then returned, to the same place a few months later, only to find it under new management is no surprise, as with the amount of small restaurants opening next to Hair dresser’s , Home Bargains, Iceland frozen food, etc is also of no surprise and I suppose it’s better than another betting shop, charity shop or nail bar…

So from your figures, I would suggest that the average high st, town, city centres have changed the way alcohol is presented to us as most landlords realised adding a good chef may well keep the wolf from the door. I know literally dozens of pubs that are now restaurants …but they still struggled prior to 2020.

you are over elaborating, i'm only refering to the UK. Most of the cheap good came from China.
