T4G come on fella. I’ve just sorted your BA point
Also “ As ragtrade, who actually runs a clothing business pointed out, the spring and summer season is far longer so supply chain can be better planned over a longer period of time. This is what Boo has apparently done.”
The same ragtrade who believes
- test and repeat is a flawed model?
- admitted his business wouldn’t accept test and repeat orders from Karen Millen?
- who’s business has 8 staff
- data and customer insight was the same today as at Topshop in 1993
Yeah he sounds like he’s really on the pulse with how boohoo operates and the supply chain they run!
Jesus do we just wear blinkers now?
Come on! This is a joke right? Surely? You quote a guy with statements like that as provenance
T4G we discussed this before
That terminal extension and refurb was planned PRE (Jan-20) so their “view” was on a pre covid world (you’re getting like Kallu and posting stuff without checking/ thinking about it first)
Also they are in the airline business. Think they are going to spend all that money and time and now say “sorry waste of time that”
Obviously they think air travel will come back. They are in that’s business. The same way office leasing companies are saying offices will come back and pret is saying the lunch trade will come back
As they HAVE to believe that or they will have to admit to a huge scaling back of their businesses which no CEO on a salary wants to do
Next you’ll be telling us every tech business in the world has wasted millions of dollars on development and also hired hundreds of staff into their operations when they could have just got it off the shelf from salesforce and had them in a small office in Manchester!
Think there’s some confusion on “flights”
Holiday flights don’t really help so much U.K. to Corfu etc
It’s mainly flights on large businesses routes that need to come back particularly in reference to Asia to U.K.
US tourism restarted in Nov-21 and look at the blue line in the graph it’s not made a huge difference yet
There’s more that needs to happen and I don’t think corporate travel will happen the same
Maybe airlines will convert planes to cargo? An idle plane is expensive I bet
Hosai you’ve read that wrong it’s saying “they’re not the only ones” and the quote is from another supplier and he then says “working with THG is hard”
Shoppers can switch to other brands on LF or without the discount they may not shop so it’s complex. They certainly aren’t switching THG off
What I would say is that this isn’t the first time I’ve seen this with a stock I have. Ralph Lauren and others “kicked off” with Asos due to discounting. They never left and now even do exclusives with Asos
Tbh it’s a silly point. I only bought Ralph shirts from Asos as I knew I got them 20% off. If they were full price I’d just wait. It’s like Reiss. They do sales all the time just wait
I was taken back by the “defence” bit but tbh this does make sense as when the golden share goes it’s fair game if you have the votes but as I said I think any bidder needs management
Again all makes sense but “price leadership” is what I have addressed. THG said “everyone follows” and now they aren’t
I don’t think anyone hedges tbh as it’s not usually needed but maybe they have. None the less it’s not great that we are more expensive
We should be turning the screw. Not coming up with excuses why we are behind and why that’s ok
Oke I’m honestly not sure. You’d have to think if you look at Bulks accounts then that’s an answer. I think we have been eating margin though recently
1pencil agree and that’s all valid but doesn’t say at all why we are more expensive when we shouldn’t be
All protein companies are in same boat. But why are we more expensive
Any of the likes to 1pencils post want to say or is that not below the sand?
We should be cheaper for all the reasons I gave. But we aren’t and that’s a concern
Whey prices smashed the all time high yesterday and as you say we buy spot so again it’s only getting worse for MP
1pencil that’s a great point and I’d fully agree but I think that’s what makes me laugh on these boards. People just bury their heads to the sand
On your point in theory even with there headwinds we should be the one turning the screw for market share
- biggest supplier so economics of scale
- vertically integrated
- we cover an element of our fixed costs through selling ingenuity
- automation
Yet we aren’t the cheapest. Some of me thinks this is in part the problem of the spin off as MyProtein should be able to lean it’s short term issue onto ingenuity but for some reason that’s not happening. Why? As my guess is that as suspected by analysts THG is being very careful where is makes “carry the can”
That’s my point here
@hereshopin the point with nutrition (and same with beauty brands) is customers are sticky to a brand. It’s what makes these brands so valuable
The issue is once you lose someone it’s harder and costly to win them back. What THG should also be cashing in on now is unlike smaller brands we shouldn’t need to advertise as much just to hold share (again this should factor to more competitive pricing)
Both points I think quite clearly point to the spin off causing a consideration of where profit is going atm
Still holding same amount. Will only add more when freight costs and whey prices fall
Atm I’m just building cash again
It’s funny how people become “blind” with a stock they own.
4 people have like the “all companies having same issue” yet I bet none have actually gone across and compared prices
Don’t wear blinkers! MyProtein says it is price leader and atm it’s not! By a long way
They can but you have to look at competitors prices. It’s too simple to just say “can pass the cost on therefore no issue”
At a 2.5kg bag MyProtein is £68 at Bulk it’s £60
Why would anyone buy MyProtein atm? Amazon own brand is cheaper still but very limited flavours and sizes
But the point on the call was “everyone follows” on pricing and that’s not true atm

Board should release an update similar to this one in Nov-20. We were told any details of new Ingenuity wins at the update so this sort of RNS would be appreciated
Someone email IR and suggest
I posted last week about Unilever saying D2C was the shining light for them
Nestle and then RB coming out yesterday and saying the same!
THG have nestle and we can certainly do more for them
THG just need to keep chipping away at winning more and more clients
For me MyProtein is the big issue atm given whey prices. Some of the market is following and some isn’t. That’s frustrating tbh
Seems like Wolf agree T4G but go on tell us more about boohoo having an ad pulled and noted in the press such as the evening standard, sky news abs business desk “moves the dial” in any sense at all
It’s just noise
What was more interesting was what they did yesterday but you’ll say I’m wrong. Your text book says so
Dotable and imagination (which is ingenuity “lite” - ingenuity is actually called Elysium when it’s the full fat version)
Nothing new but what I think is telling that dotable and imagination are not being pushed. They aren’t in the live websites known as that’s “commerce” only
I think they have largely been forgotten about. JG ignored the question about them on the CME
God how off the mark is all this
That ad being pulled won’t have even registered with boohoo audience. It’s not free marketing as there’s literally nothing to see
Boohoo did do some amazing marketing yesterday but seems to be missing on this board

It's a smart move for boohoo but I would say they are trying to compete more with Revolution Beauty than a LF. You'll notice below on the boohoo beauty stuff on the website it is then all RevB
LF gets you 850 different brands. (You'll tell me i'm wrong but speak to your wife/ gf/ bf) and they rarely by one brand you by a mix of brands but also across the value range ie a cheaper mascara but go all out on foundation. Someone shopping Charlotte Tilbury isn't swapping a £30 foundation for boohoo own brand. Just different audiences
I don't think boohoo's beauty range is really competing as such with LF. Missguided have done beauty for years and that never moved the dial (I assume you knew that - missguided beauty is even sold in Superdrug)
Rev B is the smart beauty play. It does for beauty what boohoo did for fast fashion (test and repeat). It is also every girls "secret" as it "dupes" the higher brands. So a girl might have NARS for the night out but day to day wear RevB dupe
