or any amount from vod,(just a narcus fantasy) but I simply pointed out, that as I was up £30K over about 6 months, I was being possitive for the future. Overall I am way down, & have never claimed otherwise as narcus well knows, so I would describe narcus more as a who, not a Grinch. Rob. The 4 shares that you mention with an average 9% divi yield would need to have an sp rise of 9% before ex divi reduction for the sp to stay the same. Vod needs 4.5% The divi just comes out of the share price. Are they better investments? Who knows? Do you? If you sell one company & buy another too many times you will lose more than your divi's in costs. As for historical yields, that is history, so forget that as you can't change the past! Garonne. The M M's are not holding the share price down, where do you get that idea from. Have you never heard of S.E.T.S. the automatic price matching system, that is mainly what controls the vod S.P. Vod should be seen as a medium to long term investment, as the mistakes vod made in the past can not be undone overnight. If you are looking for get rich quick gaines, then invest in something else.

Jesteh. Many think vod has a second listing on the nasdaq, but it doesn't. If you invest in vod on the nasdaq you do not own any shares just a contract with a broker in the form of an A.D.R. which is roughly linked (not directly) to the L.S.E. vod sp at 10 to 1. Shares that have a true 2nd listing will drift by almost nothing because of the liquidity of global stock markets. Buying & selling vod shares from the L.S.E to the nasdaq is far more complex. If you are a retail investor & sell nasdaq A.D.R.'s & buy vod shares you pay stamp duty on the purchase. but if you then sell vod on the L.S.E. & buy A.D.R.'s you don't. I assume that vod market makers don't pay stamp duty at all ?, just retail investors, & I also assume A.D.R.'s are mainly sold to retail investors. I find in general vod A.D.R.'s are priced about 0.5 p above V.O.D. on the L.S.E. To make the point, if you bought vod shares on the L.S.E. valued a £1, with spamp duty you would pay £1.05p, but in the U.S. you would pay only £1.
