RE: Tenet Delayed20 Jul 2020 21:34
I posted some weeks ago about how i thought that the current forced situation is better (in a manner)... A longer theatrical window, less people, more showings, a sustained period of income riding through the times/months when it would dip slightly, furlough and home working makes sneaking off to the cinema at irregular times more attractive, tighter windows and overlap between films makes Unlimited Cards etc more attractive.
Also, research suggests that knowing the ending of a film (a spoiler) increases enjoyment as your constantly looking to tie it together as you watch - you're more engaged with the experience. Having a release schedule like it used to be in the 'olden days' 6 months before a Video (now VOD) release, this could increase the amount of people more likely to go... Studios will now refrain from showing their films on VOD for a longer period potentially starving Netflix / Prime / Disney subscribers of content...yet they'll still pay and it will push them to go the cinema because everyone else has seen 'it'.
The opening of cinema everywhere else around the world it could also create a beast of a situation with FOMO in the States, social media will drive interest back across the pond, it's free marketing driven back towards Cine's main market, and the US crowd will be gagging to get back in the cinema because everyone else is.
All the above is hypothetical.
Main concerns as usual = UK not opening 31st. Confirmed delays by the studios (worldwide). Lawsuit not going our way.
Just the thoughts of a madman.
