It came as warnings of an imminent crisis in the UK pension market forced the Bank of England into a shock £65bn intervention in bond markets today.

The Bank has been warned by investment banks and fund managers in recent days that the sharp fall in bond prices has forced pension funds to sell bonds to meet margin calls.

I read a good explanation on IG, bonds..
The interest rate is called the coupon, and Yield total return..
So if you buy the bond below face value, what you get back when it matures, increases the yield.
So if you bought a £100 bond for £95, it yields the buyer an extra £5, plus interest, over the trader who gets face value + int..
So when interest (coupon ) goes up on new issues, above previous issues then those previous are sold less than face value so that the buyer gets a return similar the new bonds..
And when the coupon goes down on new issues, the old have better interest rates, so sold above face value and the yield goes..

FTSE stocks, media, and google, seems when the price is going up, all the Bullish stuff is put in front of you, to the point you dismiss the negatives. Then comes the bearish news, when both were always in play, the prices moves down.
Then the stock is a bargain, and its the Bullish news...

Tit of a bank, always been bad with peoples money, my local branch told another bank I was deceased, and took back the money I had transferred, to an online/phone account. The new bank would'nt tell me anything over the phone about the missing money, obviously because I was dead...

Time to look at the stocks that dived in 2020, and came back stronger, if not just to correct later..

Will take a look at that, until recently I found all the bond stuff confusing, then eventually I found out they were relating between in issue and about to be issued bonds..
And Post Office "premium" bonds , you pay a premium to what you get back , since your losing the rate of inflation every year you hold, unless you win a prize

@Herbert, have a look at the presentation, page 4, this well could have been placed a lot further west if their modelling is correct, so looks to be placed well within the distance the oil is believed to have migrated

Would you want your old bonds if the Gov are about to issue new with better interest, Yanks are probably loading up while at the same time putting pressure on to cancel the fudget...
