@KevR, lots of commercially good reasons to move voice over to broadband, less equipment at the exchanges by getting rid of the old voice equipment, saving power, space(buildings), cooling.....

@KevR, but old people who don't want internet, and who have always had a landline will be the ones that are affected most.

My father hasn't got a landline or broadband just a mobile..

@Tro, Mmmm, BT ads suggests the phone will be connected to the BT router, so if there is a power cut the router goes off and you have no phone..

What happens to your phone if you turn the router off ?

Interesting, there was a 9.5m buy at 0.359p printed at 11:40, charted at 11:40, the start of the next rise..makes sense..

But on the chart it showed as a sell at 0.35, .

Now I thought it was listed and executed at 11:40, but can't go back to check as too many trades have gone by..

London Stock X. shows it was executed at 10:40. So it looks like I read 11:40, as that was the time it was listed instead of 10:40.. But it was followed by the next step up, so did others do the same and buy ?

I see BT are moving the landline onto broadband :(

The advantage of a landline is that even if power is lost to your home your landline still works, and even when your internet is down your phone is usually working..

So now you need a fully charged mobile phone as backup for your landline which was once the most reliable of all
