My thoughts exactly, it's the Gatwick short-haul portfolio that is attractive and IAG I don't think will want to give up. Also Easyjet do fly to a number of primary cities unlike Ryanair and WIZZ, so their model is closer to BAs. Will be interesting to see what happens, I hold shares in both.
It would have to go through the competition authorities and giving up slots as well no doubt, but its not to say it might not be a consideration. I guess my thoughts at what point does it become unfeasible and that would depend on route overlaps, competition on each city pair etc. What would the synergies be etc etc.
My thoughts exactly!! EZJ are slightly different from RYA and WIZZ in their offering. Their well established at LGW and would be more than delighted to takeover BA short-haul available slots. In Reading that BALPA have ended discussions with BA in agreeing terms for a new subsidiary airline at LGW, the next most logical steps either pass slots out to another low cost carrier within the IAG group or keep in house an acquire an already well established LCC. Easyjet would be a good fit I recon. It will be interesting to see what plays out.
I agree Mary, with more money behind it and possible take over target or merger, EZJ will be watched closely. I still wouldn't be surprised if IAG were keeping a close look on EZJ, a possible tie up down the line perhaps?
Good post retirement, should never have all your eggs in one basket, saying that having worked for BA for over 20 years myself, I'm very confident of a decent long term recovery. Once we hit Nov, should be up towards 225-250 mark I recon. Massive pent up demand and people want to travel. More consolidation for sure on the cards. GL All!!
Is this some kind of joke, I've never seen so much good news come through in quick succession: travel restrictions on PCR testing easing, US opening up from Nov, IAG securing for Veuling a lot of slot pairs at Paris Orly, just need Air Europa deal to be rubber stamped and a further acquisition thrown in to really spice things up!! Hopefully a good day again tomorrow as more coverage on US opening fully continues and the big boys pile in. Oh forgot to mention and no RI needed either!! GL All!!
Exactly, with wider FTSE market down IAG has held up very well. A small top up for me this morning to average down, as long term this will be a belter. I'm still thinking it wouldn't surprise me if IAG were to do something with Easyjet around LONDON Gatwick. Particularly if they can't agree terms with BA pilots for LGW, have a nice subsidiary in their already well established at LGW. Keep the slots within the group and an already well established brand. Will be interesting to see what happens, I've got a holding in both. Good luck all!!
Absolutely Lloyd's, a lot of investors including myself wondering if a RI on the horizon, with this confirmation there isn't, we should have rapid take off on the runway tomorrow. GL All!!
Funny enough, I thought the same, they have an established brand at LGW, give them extra slots and take in under the IAG umbrella. If the unions don't agree cost cutting measures at LGW, buy an established airline that can run it. Very interesting!!!!
