>If I had been in the placement at 220 would I be tempted to take a near 50% profit and go short? Not seeing any large trades though. I don't know who were involved in the latest placing but I know Woodford already owned a large chunk of the company and he invests for the long term. Lots of startups.

The 5 minute technical indicator is now rating the stock a strong buy so I'm all in. Just kidding. Fascinating watching these things though. All 7 indicators agreeing a buy but I've seen it change so often it's not really worth taking any notice of.

Been driving myself bonkers today because I found an online tool that compiles the views of a whole load of technical indicators and moving averages. God knows how anybody trades using these things. https://uk.investing.com/equities/purplebricks-group-plc-technical God knows what they even mean. You can view over different time spans with the shortest being 5 minutes. The ones under 5 hours have been saying all day that the shares are a sell or a strong sell and now at the end of the day we have the 15 minute view as a strong sell and the 5 minute view as a buy. Looking at the last trades of the day there were some reasonably large ones in the 350's which is pretty much where we started the day. The opening auction price was £3.55 and the closing one £3.35. Looking forward to tomorrow :)

PB charge $4500 for a sale by private treaty or $5500 for sale by auction. So in Oz the competition respond quickly whereas here in the UK they're just a bunch of winging poms ignoring the pros & labouring on about the cons of PB. PB going strong in Oz. Reached hardman & Co's F17 estimate of £2M revenue, 2 months ahead of schedule.

I'm not a technical analyst and don't know what the indicators are suggesting but just on what must be supply and demand I can see this reaching £4 soon. Happy to be advised what the charts are saying.

Really? How much do they charge again? Where are their rates advertised? Oh, I forgot, the rates are determined by bartering unless you're unfortunate enough not to know you are allowed to barter. "While a change to their advertising may not bring them down, it could do significant harm to their sales, which in itself would prove the advertising was misleading in the first place." Come on get real. "May not bring them down"? There's no chance whatsoever of bringing PB down if they get told to stop saying "selling fees" in their adverts. So they have to change a couple of words - big deal. Have they seen some of these adverts with their "typical APR of 1000%" in small writing shown of about half a second. Do they really think PB are going to have to advertise at a standard higher than all the other misleading adverts? Do they really believe that a significant number of people are signing up with PB without knowing that they pay even if their home doesn't sell? I'm afraid they just don't get it.

What time frame are you shorting on? Didn't you say this earlier too? Did you have to buy shares at a higher price to complete the order?

An unrealised gain is not a profit though. Got a bit of a shock when I saw -25% opening on Barclays Stockbokers prices before 8am. Was very worried a minute later when it said -50% :) Not sure how long this rally can be sustained. Interesting piece by Rayhan but only saying what we've been saying here. The industry only has itself to blame and have not reacted even now that it's happening.

The way it seems to work is that the original agent gets 2 juniors then those juniors get 2 juniors each. I don't think that an agent gets a percentage of the commission from anyone other than the 2 agents below them.

Sain was saying that 90% of sales have been achieved by PB for properties on the market from 10 months ago. Or at least they are no longer on the market. My own analysis shows a similar percentage going back to August of last year. A very approximate estimate of the market as a whole showed similar figures. You are unlikely to know what could have been in terms of price. There was one TrustPilot review claiming that they moved from PB to another agent and instantly achieved a sale at a higher price than the price they had the property listed with PB but I can't recall whether that was a verified customer or not and you would need a large sample size for it to be considered typical. Which? published some stats and conclusions based on a large sample size which didn't address those questions particularly. One of the conclusions was "online-only and hybrid agents sold more homes that hadn’t been reduced in price compared to traditional agents.". Also "The study found that properties that had been reduced by more than 5% took an average of 64 days longer to sell and had an average final sale price of almost £20,000 less than properties that sold without such a significant reduction of the asking price." You know what they say about statistics though. You can spin it whichever way you want. Is a price that sells quickly values at the right price or too low? I imagine Sain would say that if PB sell a property quickly then it is underpriced but that when a traditional agent sells it quickly the agent has got the maximum for their client.

I was thinking theoretically and had forgotten how bad traditional Estate Agents have been in my experience. Thinking back to my meetings PB demonstrated a superior understanding of online marketing and the actual figure of 0.75% commission was 1.5% until I signed up with PB. Give me a firm quote any day. If I'd listed with a High Street Estate Agent I might save sold already at a lower price than I eventually achieve with PB. I might not have sold and had to reduce before selling. I might never have sold because they don't understand how to market on Rightmove even though it's been around for 10 years. We don't have hindsight so you can always say it might have been better with another strategy. At the time of the meetings PB were the most straight with me in terms of a marketing strategy and demonstrated the lack of competition which justified the high listing price in my opinion. I've now received my first viewing at a higher price than the other agents were telling me to list at so things are going as PB suggested they would. >where people can get sucked in by the clever TV advertising Advertising is only part of it. You then meet their agent and go through a very clear online signing up process. People will always complain but they have to read what they're signing up to. Some people will sign up to PB without understanding what they are getting but I bet they don't read what they are signing with Estate Agents either. Most probably don't know you can barter over commission too.

OK, it's actually about 270m after the placing I think. So divide Rightmove's SP by 3. That's £13.00. So £2 is in my opinion fair value rising to £4 once they have demonstrated continued sales growth of 50% a year for a few years which is what I was saying before. They are currently trading in line with expectations so expect a rise in turnover from £18.6m to about £44m with losses of £5.5m. I think that is conservative and actually expect better than that. Then growth of turnover slowing to 50% a year (again it looks conservative) and you have profit after tax of £38m by 2020. All of these estimates courtesy of Hardman & Co. What can go wrong? This of ignores any potential profits from the USA.
