Any current you know of, other than JPM, who may be out completely.?

I haven’t gone right back. I’m not sure that there was much if any shorting notified from even the highest price. Somebody following shorting on here will know.

And just to finish, had I wanted to short this and was comfortable about it, I would by now have taken my cash. Not messing about at the price we’re at at the stage we’re at.

I find the idea as well that I am short and seeking to manipulate the few shareholders on this goldfish bowl of a chat board, with ‘convoluted’ ( what do you mean? ) messages frankly more than amusing. No matter how many scurrilous posters like me you think there are.

I won’t argue your view. There are, unless you know better, no published short positions over 0.5%. I understand stock is borrowed by brokers for inventory, and hedging also comes into it. I am insufficiently knowledgeable around that, but usage of borrowed stock seems debatable.

My guess is it happens on many shares.

I suppose, to be honest, I simply don’t buy into the ongoing theme of somebody shorting so as to buy more shares than they started with, and repeat, repeat etc - the ‘they’ want your shares thing.

If you recall, the scenario was Newcrest in league with JPM or somebody were hoarding them. Of course, that one went out the window.

I sometimes express different views from mainstream. I have a history of accusations against me. And green binning. Nothing I have said has come back to haunt me.

I dismiss the shorting business. Where is the evidence, beyond borrowed shares, fluctuating?

It’s a theory, but not one of mine. Actually, I don’t have any. What you see is what you get.

I have never criticised Mr. Day on here. I am not now. If anything, Newcrest has failed to support what he must have believed would likely occur, in telling us he was content to align.

If there is something in my posts, to which you refer generally, please use them to make your point.

I mean, Mr. Day must have considered he was ‘aligning’ with something.

I’m not sure that anybody’s knickers are in a twist. It’s actually not worth much of a light to anybody in the ground, as a business proposition.

I simply find it an unusual turn of events, or lack thereof, for Ggp shareholders, and between good JV partners.

Being a good partner is one thing. I don’t characterise it in that way, because it’s about the money not face, but starting to look as though your relevance to the JV is limited even on ‘small’ matters to Newcrest/Newmont in the eyes of others, is not a good look. I am sure Mr. Day has turned that around in his mind.

We don’t have Newcrest’s side, we have Mr. Day’s. Taken at face value, he aligned with Newcrest on the assumption they would release. In a sense, they let him down, so he’ll go his own way.

If there was one ready to go, or not, you would have thought he would be aware.

Like others, just as an observer, it seems to me there is a surprising lack of communication on that particular matter between partners in a single asset.

I think there’s a hangover of secret squirrel stuff arising from a Town Hall meeting when some remark or other from Mr. Day was seized on.

It was never a realistic position to take.

It is that information, surely, that Newmont will be considering when looking to optimise their new portfolio.

Haven’t Newcrest, going on Newmont, the same info or more, as operators, as Ggp is likely to have?

Newcrest haven’t, so that’s them done for now.

Just my view. It’s OK and perhaps sensible to apply a cynical mind to things at times. But characterising it as a matter of course as some sort of poker game, who blinks first, may be somewhat obsessive?

Business minds and cash will out.

I don’t think it’ll all come a tumble on voting, so presuming it goes through it’s all about cash. No point in not monetising your assets, one way or another.

If they do buybacks, on the next to no volume we have, it’ll make a big difference, until it’s sold into.
