The betavolt battery is very interesting. They’re using a radioisotope with a t1/2 of 100 years to provide an energy output for 50 years. So the decay per unit mass is very low. But it’s always ‘on’ and being used up, whether the battery is in use or not. This would ideally be coupled with a hybrid capacitor to store the energy and have it ready for use. It will be interesting to see the size and cost of the proposed 3V 1W betavolt battery.

Tricky one. There is always going to be a need for capacitors. They simply do what they do. Beyond this comes evolution vs revolution. If a brand new energy storage option is discovered, it will take time to come to market. And yes we’re in trouble.

The evolution path seems more likely though? Hybrid models offering the best of both worlds, though not perfect at present, offer potential for ongoing improvement.

W1, you’re missing the point. Capacitors and certain batteries are rechargeable. It’s the rate of charge and discharge, power and energy density per unit mass of device, charge discharge cycle efficiency, and functional length of life that fundamentally differs.

Capacitors store charge, batteries undergo a chemical reaction.

That’s why you can’t recharge a lithium ion battery in seconds.

This overview paper is worth a read. Tbf to Wobble1, if a technological revolution occurs which replaces the super cap occurs, we’re in trouble. A rechargeable battery with all the properties of a supercap is the holy grail of energy storage. Don’t think we’re near it soon. Or… will

Any device which has a pulsating energy use will use a capacitor to protect the battery, and enhance battery life. Which is going to be pretty much all of them. Here’s one example. The libre 2 updates a connected smart device via Bluetooth every minute. A packet of data is sent as a burst. Transiently higher energy use, the battery is buffered by a micro sized capacitor. Afternoon. If I’ve got it right (big if) there should be an RNS this week telling us approx 2,000,000 million shares have been issued to the CLN provider. The sp has cycled around this quarterly event. Fingers crossed we’ll see an upward trend following this.

Transfer from an ISA to a trading account takes seconds, once the request is made. Only time will tell us how liquid this share will be on a secondary market. Hopefully it’s going to be different to the typical start up company.

It depends how your ISA provider interprets the rules. Some are applying a 30 day grace period, others are moving shares out of ISAs and into normal dealing accounts. X-O have moved mine already. The shares are still CREST applicable, so selling via the MBF will be relatively straightforward.

Evening. Bit of a discussion going on on the telegram group. To add to the thought process about selling via MBF. Significant funding is provisionally planned for February from the ME super investor. It might be worth waiting for this before selling shares? Each to their own obviously. Just it’s possible postponing selling for a month might be beneficial?
