RE: Sales of CI and CI Combo2 Nov 2019 11:12
Well, I think a number of factors came into play.... We all know the original plan was to sell the company on SCIB1 trial completion however, moditope came along and let us face it that could well be one of the most valuable platforms in Immuno oncology. so developing and holding onto that is a no brainer(to me) though we since learnt there was a move to separate it off.. However despite its trial success scancell found it impossible to conclude an acceptable deal on SCIB1 this is where the current problems stem they then went all for 'selling' it as a CI combo, not its original early-stage monotherapy (totally understandable due to where the real world market was concentrated) but they were late at doing it... mouse data in ImmunoBody CI combo seemingly a rushed afterthought ... combo mouse data, however, continued to be excellent... especially in SCIB2.....
Keith Flaherty came along and offered something scancell probably should have thought more deeply about before rushing all in.... A SCIB1 trial in the US ran by the best in the top clinics-priceless!.... ended up costing us now though!.... Scancell should have in my opinion only gone for it if they could have attracted a partner for it (so far none) SCIB2 attracted CRUK and scancell have managed to move away from electroporation with a new nano delivery approach now being pursued ....Sadly SCIB1 had already been (expensively) manufactured for the US trial and was stuck with the Ichor delivery.... we know the rest with the FDA issues that have completely derailed this trials original purpose... To wow the US market! ...... sigh....
Also, of course, being a tiny bio with resource restrictions it made sense to concentrate mostly on moditope the real jewel in the crown as it were.... I think scancell should have been more cautious in taking up KF's offer and certainly not manufactured any SCIB1 so hastily .... ImmunoBody would have been better left to the CRUK funded nano delivered SCIB2 combo trial with scancell trying to get more partners to take SCIB1 possibly also nano delivered further... Too late now we are where we are and the damage done is visible in the sp... A shame really as this is a company with a pipeline that could well end up filling a Pharma... still loads of potential especially now Avidimab and the glycan mabs have come into the scancell IP fold and moditope continues to be understood more and more as it is further developed and does not cease to excite with its potential....33 targets already!....but till newsflow sp is only going one way... hopefully though shouldn't drop too much below 5p as most sells then would be at a shareholder loss....
