Looks like were on the closing panel now and Bud Darr isn't here, so it looks like his moment was at the start only, which is a bit disappointing, but from all the things he has said across all the events attended, he had the same message each time which is, there needs to be a larger focus on current solutions for current ships and the transitional fuels to take us onto the furture fuels, which overall is a plus for us that he and MSC seem to be paying a larger focus on our section of the fuel market. Ofcourse they are moving towards the newer fuels, but their focus seems to be in the now and solutions we have now, no doubt to save themselves money whilst still meeting governmental/industry targets.
Yes Wolf, I picked up on that point he made too, which is why I say he is the most level headed of all panelists there, most of which have pie in the sky thoughts on the future fuels, yet as Bud Darr pointed out, they all forget there is currently 60,000 major ships sailing around the world today that need our attention, and its all well and good that we talk about the all new ammonia/methanol ships, but what about the current 60k ships that will be in operation for decades to come.
These ship are the current key polluters and the cause of our issues in the shipping industry, they are the ones that need a solution now, and as Bud Darr said, we cannot retorfit them all to run on ammonia, methanol or hydrogen as the costs would be extortionate not to mention the fuel infrastructure is not there to handle such an endeavour.
So his key point to that solution was pretty much to focus on alternatives like biofuels aka what QED will hopefully be selling very soon. Ofcourse he never directly mentioned us, but from his choice of words and how he was conveying it, he may aswell have, which is why I am feeling a much more solid and level headed approach coming from MSC regarding alternatives like what Quadrise are giving, lets just hope that bullish feeling from Bud Darr continues long after the trial is complete leading us all into the land of the pound.
They are on a 1hr break. Overall Bud Darr spoke at the start not sure if he will be back again to speak, but he was largely emphasising the same things as before which was that there are a number of key strategies to getting to where we need to be, hinting at alternatives i.e biofuels and no doubt emulsion fuels, but unfortunately the word "Emulsion" fuel never left his lips, but no doubt he may have encompassed us among the biofuel side he aluded to.
Overall Bud Darr seems to be the most level headed one there and is the only one realising there is an intermediate solution before we start throwing around the top future fuels like ammonia, methanol and hydrogen that all other panelist keep spewing out like repeating soundbites. I definitely felt Bud Darr is on our side and I certainly feel he is sees the near future with a transitional fuel like ours than a future one, especially given the roadblocks that these future fuels have infront of them.
After Bud Darrs speech it was ammonia ammonia ammonia spewing out the mouths of other panelist along with some Methanol talks and minor talks on Hydrogen, all with their own vested interests ofcourse being involved in companies who create these fuels so makes sense they would toot their own horns, but it is very tedious to hear when no one is focusing on the solution we have now. So right now its all boring greenwashing rhetoric until Budd Darr speaks again lol.
Has anyone managed to successfully register for the major meeting at 11:30am today where Bud Darr will be attending/talking? It seems its an invitation only event so even if you register you there will most likely be a vetting process before being accepted to join, probably why they ask for so many personal and work details on the registration form. I put one through yesterday but heard nothing back.
Its odd that given its something of a global interest that they would close the most major part of the event to most people, it does make you wonder what will be discussed behind closed doors.
That was another very brief chat with not much to add or say, hopefully tomorrow will actually be in an depth discussion and not some introductory parade. However, Bud Darr does seem to have a much more open view on decarbonisation solutions than all other panelist who all seem oblivious to solutions that can be implemented today like emulsion fuels.
When they started saying that the barrier to the new fuels was the cost and it would be too costly for change etc. I couldn't help but internally scream and say there are actually cheaper solutions than current fuels now which largely reduce emissions too, "cough emulsion fuels cough". Given these panelist have all made their careers off the back of decarbonisation it astounding me how openly oblivious they are to the current now solutions we have , either that or they are simply blanking it deliberately.
Can someone give clarifications on the events surrounding Bud Darr and his meeting schedule at COP28. To me it seems the 11:30 - 13:00 meeting today was the meeting we just saw at 7:30am UK time. Some are saying there is another meeting at 11am UK time today? But I feel some may be mixing this up with the meeting we just had or is there actually another meeting at 11am UK time today? Now SC, you say there is another meeting tomorrow at 11:30am is this the meeting, is this 11:30am UK time or would this translate to the same time as todays meeting where its 7:30am UK time? Its all confusing with the timings being the times held at the event and times it will be held here in the UK. Feels like im mixing alot up here lol
Does anyone have the link to the meeting at 11:30 where Bud Darr will be attending? I'm not sure if this will be a live meeting like the one we just viewed or if it will be behind closed doors, I cant find any video links to the meeting myself.
What is the event tomorrow SC? And is there a link to it like the others? As I said before, I hope Bud darr has a more personal event where he has much longer to talk about what MSC will be doing to help the transition to greener fuels instead of just a brief introduction a seen at this meeting.
Quite a boring watch, nothing new really said apart from standard opening speechs with future thinking along with a single question for each panelist. One thing I noticed throughout this meeting was the constant references & rhetoric regarding green hydrogen & ammonia, very little was said on biofuels and zilch on emulsion fuels as a transitional stage.
It's quite odd considering they talk about "transition" but completely skip over the fact that the transitional stage requires transitional fuels, skipping straight to the end stages to talk about the end goal fuels. I guess everyone wants to greenwash the summit with ideologies of what will happen in 2050 rather than what will happen now to get there, seems even transition fuels like emulsion fuels are still swear words at such a summit despite it being part of the solution of the whole transitional journey.
I didn't think Bud Darr would talk about Quadrise directly nor mention the tripartite agreement, but I had hoped for him to atleast mention the transitional fuels they are looking into. Sure he seemed emboldened in making a shift for change, but nothing of real substance was said, then again the time they were given to speak about things was awfully low, it almost felt extremely rushed with little more than a brief introduction. Very lacklustre for me, with COP28 coming to a close, I hope there is more he has to say at any other meetings he has, because if that was it, then I'm not impressed, and that's removing any disappointment over the whole expectation of QED being part of it.
I wish I was as confident as you were on Bud Darr making an announcement involving QED and the tripartite agreement PR. Unfortunately I still remain heavily sceptical with a small thread of hope. I want it to happen so badly, but I just can't get around my scepticism to be excited. I guess I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much regarding this as we all hate disappointed.
Having said this, I'm confident that JM will stick to his word on a December announcement for the agreement, I just don't have hopes for an explosive announcement of it, although I'd love to be proven wrong.
If this gives Valkor significant funding it could hopefully be a sign that funding might be around the corner, and we will get what Valkor owes us from the agreement, here's to hoping.
On another note regarding Jasons nod to Ecoteq, they have updated there website to say this "We are also working towards a marine and heavy diesel product that targets a 50% reduction in total life cycle emissions." Something tells me they are going to want an MMU too! Lets see if JM comes out with anything offical regarding Ecoteq with another partnership.
Given JM gave a nod to Ecoteq as a potential partner, this is likely to be relevant to us in the coming future. Valkor & Ecoteq have an agreement and will start producing a plant in April 2024 scheduled to be completed in Q2 2025.

Valkor and Ecoteq have an agreement to build their first plant in April 2024 and completed by Q2 2025. With Valkor being the engineers and builders of this plant, it is possible that Valkor could get part or all of their funding from this deal, guess we will have to wait and see what Valkor say as they are certainly getting paid for this.
JP said in the proactive interview that they expect funding in later December but more than likely it will be in January next year. So from that I'll give them until the end of January before a placing is thrown in the mix to keep the lights on, could be before that though. My hope for anything to come to fruition here is on a thread, if nothing positive happens before the end of January, then I expect the my shares to go from a pitiful 85% down to zero lol.
Well COP28 is the ideal place to group and sign if you want the publicity, I cannoy deny that. And whilst there has been zero confirmation of any attendance of COP28 by Quadrises board or staff, I'll admit it is possible that they have just remained very hush about it as to not give the market an insight into what will be potentially happening. I just have to hope to see JM's face pop up when the MSC CEO announces an agreement is being signed and watch everyone loose their sh*t, lol
Well JM could very easily signed the document before it was handed over to MSC. But given the immensity of such a signing I'd fully expecy JM to be there in person to sign it along side MSC as a formality for all parties and viewers to see. Having someone absent from such a big signing event just gives off a bad vibe, as why on earth as a public company wouldn't you want your face plastered across the world for your shareholders than anything as thats what gives people sentiment to buy, being elusive and in the background does nothing but help to hide those involved in the agreements. It's one of the key reasons why I am personally not expecting a signing involving QED to happen, but I want so much to be proven wrong.
