wealdpwr,
You seem to be reading a lot into my post. Really just curious as to what type of manipulation folk think is going on as for me, it often seems a convenient mask for poor SP performance and is a frequent claim across many boards when the SP is down for no apparent reason.
Personally, I feel that ANGS is where it is as, despite the potential, as there is nothing tangible to merit a higher valuation at this point in time and investor confidence is low. A simplistic view, perhaps.
gkb47,
Thanks for the link.
I have some awareness with the monitoring tools that regulators, firms, etc use to monitor trading patterns, SP movements, potential market abuse, etc and they are becoming much more sophisticated.
People will always find ways around systems and controls if they really want to, but the chance of getting caught out is much higher nowadays. As you correctly say, folk can speak in bars, restaurants, etc and that won't change, but most phone/electronic communication within firms is monitored, but there is only so much that can be done.
Firms will all have their own internal monitoring and the regularors will have independent controls and potential instances of abuse can be originated from either source to the other for further investigation prior to any further action being taken if considered appropriate, whether it be against investment firms, individuals within those firms (e.g. dealers), companies, company directors, etc.
It is an interesting subject matter (for me anyway).
Compared to the volume of transactions undertaken daily, the % of potentially questionable trades is incredibly small and the number of actions brought by the regulator even from the relatively small number of 'flagged' transactions is smaller still.
