IamGold's interests in Oriole is the Senala Licence.
The company has been under a major review for the last 6 months with their flagship asset Cote Gold, under construction and 57% complete, the budgeting has come up $1.2 - 1.3B short. The company is cashed-up with well over $500M in cash and credit, but given the strategic importance of Cote Gold, they have initiated a review of the development and exploration assets in W. Africa for various alternatives to increase liquidity and deliver Cote. These assets are Bambouk District (Boto, Kariba, Diakha-Siribaya) and Senala.
With numerous possibilities, JV's etc, one option could be to sell the whole lot.
Taking the scenario's from both end's of the spectrum, build Boto and retain Senala or sell, works well for Oriole in both cases imo.
Building Boto, Senala becomes a series of satellite deposits. With the mine already budgeted for, each additional ounce is worth circa US$96/oz (M,I &I) to IamGold (see previous post).
Selling Senala, IamGold could ramp-up exploration, maximize the resource and therefore gain the best price, possibly to B2Gold as satellite feed to Fekola, again at the premium circa US$96/oz (M,I&I) price.
There is a third scenario where Fare reaches stand alone status, but that's another story.
