Does this add fuel to the fire of a tie-up/collaboration between B2Gold and Centamin?

One thing I know - I'd rather have Clive Johnson as Centamin's Chairman than Mr Rutherford (no offence Mr Rutherford, sir) should a merger happen.

Also anecdotally, I've got a hell of a lot of interest in my LinkeIn post of last week concerning the combination of B2Gold and Centamin - several hundred views including a bunch of Centamin executives/directors and general Sukari employees (including a few from Barrick and the EMRA too)

The ACTUAL areas up for grabs are MUCH closer to Sukari - as in immediately adjacent to the south! We were wondering why these areas weren't included in the last bid round - now we know they belong(ed) to Shalateen.

Centamin MUST bid on some of these as they're the only ones capable of bringing any resource to immediate production.

Also, in many of these border areas the Sudanese artisanal miners (or marauders?) have been exploiting the surface gold deposits for decades.

I have included a few screen captures* from the EMRA site - you can easily see the mounds where artisanal work has been ongoing.

In some respects though it means much of the exploratory work is done in advance.

Simplistically speaking all that's left is seeing how deep the resources run...

The Mineral Resources Authority of the Ministry of Petroleum, in cooperation with the Shalateen Company, is preparing to supply and offer the 7 most important gold exploration areas in Egypt in the Eastern Desert, in a new global bid before the end of this year 2021.

These areas belong to the Shalateen Company, according to a cabinet decision, which stipulates their exploitation to search for gold and associated minerals

So this means Naguib Sawiris wasn't able to secure Shalateen's concessions through the back door.
That's good news for all legitimate gold miners involved... now, will Centamin bid?

B2Gold's management has postponed its update for its Burkina Faso ready-to-develop project 'Kiaka' several times over the last 18 months.

Comparing the metrics of Centamin's orphaned Burkina Faso project it's clear Batie West would be a smarter development - twice the grades of Kiaka (only .69g/t) and further along in the de-risking of resources.

But Batie's exploitation license expires next month, so either:

1) the Batie project reverts to Burkina Faso - millions of gold ounces lost, again
2) the Batie project finds a willing co-developer

Remember B2Gold needs to diversify country risk given its current troubles in Mali

I hope option 2 is realized before it's once again too late for Centamin shareholders.

Our company directors wouldn't be foolish enough to cost its shareholders hundreds of millions in losses again, would they?

In statements to Al-Sharq, from the city of El Gouna on the Red Sea, Sawiris said that he is currently working on gold mining in Egypt, after Altus, a subsidiary of La Mancha, won five gold prospecting sites, and attributed investment in this sector...

Why the bitcoin faithful have a fit anytime somebody questions bitcoin's status as the world's financial savior I know not.

Summary: Basically blasting the ore with microwaves to microfracture for easier processing and pre select waste from ore bearing material - thus also saving on reagents etc. Good for the environment & profits.
