(Dow Jones) -- John Wood Group said it is selling its North American transmission & distribution engineering business to Qualus for $110 million, in line with its plan to sell non-core business.

The Scottish energy-services company--which is in talks with Dubai energy-services provider Sidara over a 207.55 million pounds ($280.4 million) takeover offer--said Friday that the sale follows a competitive auction process.

It expects to complete the sale in the third or fourth quarter of this year and will use the money raised to reduce debt and for general corporate purposes.

"We are now on track to exceed our previously announced target for disposal proceeds as we continue to simplify our portfolio," Wood Group Chief Executive Ken Gilmartin said.

Late Thursday Wood Group agreed to a further extension to the deadline for Sidara to make a formal bid for the company or walk away. The new deadline is 1600 GMT Friday.

I also sold half my position this morning +15%

I still think shares are attractive

probably a takeover target also given where larger aerospace peers trade.

buyback will help given small caps can get lost and need a buyer daily to get shares moving.

total buyback is probably 40m + 50m in a tear so above 10%

Probably good news this morning as SNR has finally sold its aerostructures business for 200m and will do a buyback of atleast 40m with initiL proceeds

but you cant argue that warren joining doesn’t increase the probabilities that that ITM does sign them. Its a massive validation IMO..

hes a non-exec at ASML and had access to classified info at RR.. hes not going to waste his time at ITM unless he thinks it has potential

Warren East is also a board member at ASML - the largest and most important company in Europe

I agree for most companies its not important

but Warren has plenty of money and a reputation is won’t want to join a failing project. Its definitely a positive message today.

PE is 15x. EV /EBIT is 10x as no debt
