Not strictly true that drilling was stopped early.
Just to comment on Joe 80's post.
Initially planned to go to 1100m
Then the prognosis expected it to be 1550m
Had drilled to 1445m by 30th Oct
Finished at 1448m on 7th Nov
By saying they've stopped prematurely would be slightly misleading as they are 2m shy of their revised prediction but 348m deeper than their initial estimates. I'd also argue that it's not a costly deviation to stop now.
Although, the gas showings are a big positive and having a portable mass spectrometer on site to measure throughout the drill only makes it more encouraging.
Really expected this week to be the one where the goose laid the golden egg. Next week has to be the one!
Disappointed to see no RNS yet again this week. I just hope that the Land Permit really is the catalyst this time to see the share price rise like it's always threatened.
I have this nagging feeling that something else will crop up along the way that will halt it though. I fully expected the Exploitation Licence to be the one to finally make us hit the big time but look how that one turned out.
Anyway, onto next week, hopefully some good news and a bucket load of money added to the share price!
Avo,
I have to say that I enjoyed that one way more than I should have.
I've got to admit, I was telling myself that I would be buying more if this went sub 2p but after it did, I wasn't convinced that it wasn't going lower.
I'm a medium term holder. Currently way down. I can't see a way that this reaches it's previous highs, certainly in the short to medium term . Bitcoin price is the obvious reason but I would love someone to re-instill my optimism.
Did anyone see the piece at about 10:10pm on BBC News about a new cancer drug being trialled at the Royal Marsden hospital? It followed an obituary to Deborah James.
It was related to a drug which targeted the tumour. No names mentioned but the trial list that was interviewed was on the 4th trial although it could have been various drugs. I’ve just just got 5 from a basic sum?
I've got to say that even though I was previously asking for patience from some posters, I'm starting to get a little jittery. I was fully expecting activity to be starting in July and had expected to hear some form of news by now.
Looking at RNS' from the last drilling campaign to keep things in perspective for time frames;
7 Mar 2019 - Rig contract negotiations being finalised
16 Apr 2019 - Rig Contract Awards
19 Jul 2019 - First spud of the year
As I've said previously, activity usually starts in July for Matad.
Just looking through the previous RNS', the drill dates for the first spud of the year have tended to be early July. I'm assuming that is determined by the conditions as there is a trend.
There is obviously preparatory work to be done prior but personally I think that we won't get news on the rig just yet. There's still 5 months to drill start, based on past form.
What is currently the biggest risk to Matad?
Not being able to secure a rig?
Not being bench marked against crude?
The price of oil dropping?
Can anyone think of a realistic scenario that could side swipe us?
Personally not securing the rig is my biggest worry but that said, it would just be a waiting game for a further year. The oil isn't going anywhere till then.
Let’s not be silly, it doesn’t re-rate every q1, unless you have a different definition to me.
2018- 10.38 to 10.63
2019 - 3.4 to 5.05
2020 - 3.674 to 2.302
Let’s hope it does this time though!
I've just been typing a post out here but it is pretty much summed up by this thread. Poor communication for me, leaving more questions than answers. We've not even had a trademark 'soon' or 'imminently' so things must be bad.
Only positive that I can see is that we might get fast tracked for CTDA approval now our test is as poor as all the others....
BioServ offices aren't far from where we are, might nip to their offices and see if they have any free samples knocking about instead. £182 for 25 tests is ludicrous to be fair but maybe that is the Yorkshireman in me.
Imagine if you were a family of four testing twice a week.
The company I work for want to start providing lateral flows to our workers due to the lack of available tests. I'm pushing the Avacta route. Is it only BioServ that sell ours currently?
Albeit, I have to confirm 'The product will not be used for home testing', 'The test will be performed in a Medical Centre by a Healthcare Professional' & 'I understand that the accuracy of the test is not 100%'.
Picked up some Lateral flow tests today from the Pharmacy. Previously we have been given flow flex, now they are Orient Gene branded??? Quick question that I’m sure someone much more knowledgeable than me will know the answer to but do either of these even pick up the Omicron variant?
I can see both sides arguments here on this RNS.
One hand you have no material news. It's all ifs, buts and maybes. It would have been nice to have some tangible news such as signed contracts or definitive dates for operations to begin, rigs being secured, etc.
However, on the other hand, I think it shows that Matad have been proactive. Looking at land negotiations early, preparing the Environmental Impact Assessment for the next area. It shows they have learnt lessons from the long delays which we faced on the awarding of this exploitation licence. They are also working with the Mongolian Gov to streamline the process and also looking to diversify into renewable energy, etc.
Much to be excited about but just a shame nothing in the immediate future.
I'll tell you what.
This thread didn't age well.
By my reckoning, the last RNS in relation to physical work related to drilling being carried out was 24th Oct 2019. Don't get me wrong, there has been plenty of operational updates amongst others since but these were mainly administrative tasks (E.g. Exploitation licence updates). Obviously these are significant in their own right.
Happy to be wrong as it was only a quick flick through the updates but that's crazy when you think about it.
Could Avacta still not be allowed to announce due to their NDA?
Which trumps which? Material news or an NDA?
Similarly, if Medusa are the ones passing out the info can the NDA be one way?
Forgive the questions, I don’t have a great deal of experience with non-disclosures.
