I was expecting nothing from the Ioxus settlement and had already written off CPX's legal costs after Ioxus' little trick.

I think that type of RNS is standard around this time of year.

Bet whoever released it at 5pm had a chuckle in view of the expectations here.

Indeed, the Ioxus agreement was something from nothing and in the longer term should be better than the original award.

Hopefully a future commercial agreement with Maxwell will follow soon, now that CPX have the litigation funding it's unlikely they will let this case go to trial.

Maybe with some cash thrown in for past infringements?

The "and" suggests to me it is in addition to territories outside the USA, Canada and Japan but I agree hard figures are required for this rise from the ashes is to hold.

The RNS seems very positive but the key thing for me was the involvement of a litigation funder. They have invested into CPX's legal success and such firms do not get involved with a commercial IP case without 2 key factors.

1. Very high success probability, i.e. above 95%.
2. Potential for very large damages.

As others have said the pay-back may be a percentage of the net damages or possibly a multiple of the fund provided. We will never know until after the case is complete.

Despite the SP being way below my own average I'm very optimistic over the next few years.

Please don't get me wrong, I like to hear both positives and negatives. My main concern is CPX being ripped off by producers in a country, that has history of copying other designs, where they will find it very difficult to protect their IP.

My main concern was your comments looked "statement" like. My own opinion is that the legal action will not get to trial as almost most cases of this type don't, the court have already found in CPX's favour on a similar case and it could be very expensive for Maxwell if they lost at trial. But I could be wrong.

The report included the use of child labour in DRC to produce Cobalt.

If JLP can economically recover cobalt they will use workers over 4 years old.

Thanks gotreal for the global tailings stats, the numbers are truly staggering.

This link is over 2 years old but some interesting figures relating to the size of tailings in Chile and their potential value if reprocessed, makes Zambia look small fry.

Your calcs look about right to me for Cobalt Hydroxide.

I keep it easier for my simple brain and estimate the value of JLP's product at 25% of the Cobalt market price, to factor in the 80% WHI (payable indicator?) figure for Cobalt Hydroxide with min. 30% Cobalt.
