HD, my sympathies. My very elderly parents died over 10 years ago before Britain started its latest terminal decline so things were reasonably straightforward to sort out when needed.
I have an 87 year old Mother in Law, sight impaired, hearing impaired and with mobility issues. It took months to get her a Blue Badge. Doctor's reports, Consultant's reports. Absolute lunacy.
We have numerous cancelled and delayed appointments for the inevitable hospital visits. Sorting a POA took months and so on. Do you know what one of the MOST irritating things is? It's dealing with her appointments for the injections to treat her macular degeneration. We get letters giving her an appointment and a number if the appointment needs to be cancelled or amended but it has NEVER been possible to speak to anyone on that number and even the people in the hospital eye infirmary don't know where it's based!! Yet, the NHS constantly reminds us how many appointments are missed and the subsequent costs. That's because no poor sod can ever get through on the phone. I used to be proud of this Country but now I think it's a crumbling shambles and Sareum's problems with the MHRA was just another example of the third world bumhole we've now become. Half the workforce are hiding behind their computors at home and doing SFA.
