Really since 8Jan SP has been heading south, needs a good 4th quarter trading to get back above500.

A' reasonable' portfolio would have only made 100K in the last 5 years !!! I do not believe any of these guys full stop.

immediate relief coming here. The sentiment here has definitely changed and I am waiting to here what the manager has to say before taking the loss or not. Long term no problem will bounce back.

Driftking of course you are right. I went a bit crazy that day. I mistakenly believed the share would continue to appreciate and I further compounded the problem by buying 35K worth at one go. I don't usually invest in such a manner. However spilt milk and all that I am no looking for a way to limit the damage as I cannot see this getting back to 1200 plus anytime soon. One should always remember the very distinct difference between a risk and a gamble, I am guilty of forgetting same last March. ATB

Many thanks for your reply and the other useful information concerning MYI. With MYI I am currently sitting on a paper loss of 7K. It is my worst performing investment. I do not need to sell but of course with a holding of 3k plus shares I do not want the SP to descend into the the 8-9 pound per share range as the future for this fund is looking a bit rocky taking all the possible scenarios into account. One can never predict and I will hang on for the moment and see what the Summer brings. Would be interested to hear any comments your broker may have in this regard. Once again many thanks and ATB.

How do you see this SP going in the next 6 months ? Looks possible that the NAV and SP will converge given current trends.

What are the chances now?

My portfolio has only one fund MYI at the moment. My broker charles stanley recommended Threadneedle global equity a while back. I am not over impressed with Mr.Stout stating the obvious perhaps because MYI is up less than 2% on the year. Rio must be a good move as they and all miners have taken some battering this year.I am in two minds whether to sell MYI (at a large loss) or hang on in the hope of a better performance in 2014. I will be double your age less half a decade in a weeks time, so you have many years to make your fortune. Happy New Year.

Mr.Meddings statement seems to have helped the SP and cleared up the matter of a rights issue.(none planned) Let us hope the much talked about headwinds STAN face in 2014 will be more benign than anticipated.

Gerry, I think your grasp on issues are sound and I hope STAN will perform well in the latter part of 2014.

The same fool had another article a few days ago stating STAN could be worth 1740. Take your pick . Its always about timing and I think we both believe this will come good in the medium term. (18months plus). In the meantime I will gratefully bank the dividend. Wish I was in at your level though lol.
