In terms of how to vote it's worth noting that shareholders have the right to attend an meeting and vote. And boy would I love to do that. The problem is that SHG is Guernsey registered and in the interests of cowardice and cover up will no doubt hold it in that rather inaccessible island.

So unless you fancy a trip you must contact your broker and make crystal clear your voting intentions even to the point of getting them to confirm back to you what your instructions to them were.

Ridiculous! There must be a lot of simple minded sellers out there! For my sins I'm an avid following of the UK stockmarket and the premium to the undisturbed price is way smaller than the average. I'll be back shortly with some analysis.

In the meantime if you fancy hanging tough and snapping up some shares with the intention of voting against this opportunistic bid, do so whilst the price give you in effect a cost free option (even allowing for the interest you would have earned otherwise)

Once a shareholder has > 30% of the issued share capital he/she/it must make a bid for the whole company. I've lost count as to what CIG are likely to end up with. > 40% has been mentioned but I've not done to calcs to determine whether the denominator is the whole issued share capital or just the free float.

If it is the former then does this rule apply to CIG? Maybe somebody has raised the issue below but I've not come across it...

Taking the IAS lower diluted figure and dividing it into a price of 60 gives a PE of 2.8. These almost surreal metrics are a testimony to the bombed out nature of the London Market. No wonder Tui are thinking of leaving!

Then on 10/5/23 @10:55 an RNS came out stating that the AGM would be held on that day at 14:00

That's less than 3 hours notice! I'm pretty sure that's against the rules for giving fair notice. I let it go at the time because I naively thought the sale process was going through. However, next time they try that stunt much more might well be at stake.

Billionaires don't become billionaires by being nice. Quite the opposite in fact and if anybody doesn't feel up for the fight I suggest they sell now otherwise they are likely to get even less down the road.

Manipulate the price down by a news blackout causing investor packet and then, after a suitable interval, swoop in and "save" the company by offering a very generous 20p per share.

6 months later his 100% shareholding is sold to the Chinese for 30p equivalent.

Only if they can extract the yellow stuff before their debt tsunami buries them. If they actually manage to extract AU to near approximate nameplate volumes I would expect them to rush out a breathless RNS announcing salvation is at hand immediately.

For me there were some nasty moments when I considered the possibility that the government had taken a nationalistic turn following its military victories. However, the management displayed confidence even to the point of buying shares in the midst of the farrago and I trusted their judgement rather than sell up. Luckily!
