Mara should have a good Q4 as they mined very well, and on top of that had the benefit of the high fees.

I think CLSK might show a profit in Q1 (timing difference with quarters means Q1 instead of Q4) but it might be wiped out by the bonuses - guess we'll see soon - out on Feb 8th.

I think depreciation is less important to investors, as any miner that bought machines in 2021 at 8k a machine or so is unfairly punished in current terms. Really these machines should be written down to market value ($10 per th in my opinion), straight line accounting is invalid. But if they do this they take a hit in that quarter so games are played. On the clsk side there are also bonuses that skew direct costs I think.

Why would you put "with debt benefit", as if a massive dilution at a low price was a good thing and had anything to do with production costs.

There's been loads of figures out of miner costs and they are all over the place as they are all based on different assumptions. Quarterlies should be coming soon though so we'll get another round.

Electricity prices closely correlate to Natural Gas prices (see Henry Hub). 2022 was a terrible year for it, but relatively stable just now.

Not 100% sure if those figures are right, because WULF's dec update says 3.8 cents per kwh and SLNH's says 3 cents. Couldn't readily see CIFR's. Also Riot has a good PPA so more research would be required to work out figures - but the point remains that electricity/hosting input costs should be analysed as much as J/T.

The second part of the equation is electricity cost - if it's low enough then you can run 30 J/T miners no problem. However not many of the publicly listed miners have low enough electricity costs for this. 3 have sub 3 cent kwh costs according to this Bitoda report (SLNH, WULF & CIFR):

Really depends on what GBTC does. You'd think that the bulk of the selling would have taken place by now but who knows - they have a lot of coins and high fees and they seem determined to lose customers.

On the plus side the S&P 500 has finally broken to ATH, along with other indexes. Hoping for a good week.

Hut has really been underperforming and making bad decisions. They really pushed this merger and misrepresented some key items - such as saying ubtc had 7.2 EH of deployed hash rate - but then in the fine print saying some of that was a 50/50 joint venture - so the reality was it was more like 6.7 or something. Also some of the comms from the company were really condescending to holders, as though they were simpletons. Hut gambled with ETH remaining pow - but it switched to pos and they were left with these machines and "pivoted" towards AI compute like that was the strategy all along.

I suspect some of this short report is true, and some not - but I think enough is probably true to warrant the reaction. Holders will not be happy with management.

They have a great HODL and maybe there's a value trade now - but it's not for me.

Yes that's the one chaebol, cash on balance sheet is 5 mil, mcap is 6mil. Revenues going up, on NASDAQ, recently did a 25 to one consolidation so only 1.6 mil shares, making some deal with note holders. I'll take a look at this other one you mention.

Ps Chaebol, I'm now heavy in mine slnh and own over 5% of the company's shares. I can sense it's going to blow up (hopefully in a good way and not a bad way). Take a look at it.

I think if you were in the US and you were overexposed in your pension to bitcoin miners you'd take the opportunity to rebalance risk. I think that's what happened yesterday but let's see what happens this afternoon. I'd love to see the week close with the markets green which would set us up for next week.

I'm not worried by yesterday. Better than expected volume on the ETFs, indexes wanting to break higher, all looking good to me. Yesterday was a trade opportunity.

I suspect yesterday's price action was driven by movement of a % of holdings from miners into ETFs to rebalance risk.

I think things will be clearer by the end of next week.

Also watch the indexes, they look like they are wanting another shot at ath, if so it's likely risk on.
