Don't forget the U.S Gov is much bigger than the president. Many levers of power..national security Council, Congress, cia, pentagon, lobby groups, military industrial complex....

Genuinely not sure if it will happen ...in U.S interets to bleed Russia for as long as it can, scare Europe in spending more on arms which it has, and show China what's in store if it goes for Taiwan.

As much as I want there to be a ceasefire quickly but today the war seems to be heating up...

Used and abused like a cheap hooker. The Ukrainians were fantasising. Remember the Georgian war with Russia? The president of Georgia, Saakashvili is on the record, and even said it on a BBC documentary about Putin that the West, specifically U.S pushed for the war and promised they would support militarly and come to his aid if need be.

Another example was Iraq 1990, they publicly started to the Kurds and Shia they would intervene if they raised up against Saddam thier former ally. He ended up using chemical weapons and U.S did nothing.

Agreement and ceasefire within 2 weeks hopefully. The issue is will sides adhere to it. Be sure like every other conflict there will be breachs. Lots of actors who will want want it to happen - neo nazi/ultra nationalists, U.S military industrial complex .
Hopefully it holds together.
