VIX has just hit 36 going into close. Not seen that for 2 years! This market can't be played short term. Buy and forget and take your profits in 6 months time. Glta

I would guess tomorrow could see capitulation in the US. If there was a little fight tonight there would be hope e for tomorrow but the market rolled over after lunch. Futures may rally tomorrow but tomorrow afternoon in US coukd be ugly

For me it's a no brainer, any stock providing 6% plus yield which you know is sustainable is a buy. Interest rates will not increase to a significant level for years to come. I'm personally in emerging market bonds as well. Buy at the moment with 9% yield. Sooner or later the market will chase emerging market debt.

I agree buying in Friends is a nice play. Personally after todays news about BT and O2 I think BT will be a nice one to hold for the long term with the quadband play.

Just for info for anyone who is involved in employee sharesave. I'm an ex employee from the old CGNU days. When a company merges you can cash in and request your shares early however youare liable to CGT. There is a clause in the sharesave which allows you to take your options. The company does not advertise or promote this. I cashed mine in when the old CGNU merger took place and share price was £12 ish. Just for info incase anyone wants to
