Nolupus, isn't that the whole point of the trials?
Given the limited knowledge of COVID at the time and the limited scope for dosage adjustment within the trial application for COVID, it would have taken far too long to re-adjust and approve a new dosage level/formula. I think it's fair to assume they are going with the same formula. As you are saying (i think haha), the effect of the formula on COPD vs COVID sufferers may be governed by how much each of those conditions suppresses the initial Interferon response. That would indicate less of a benefit on COVID sufferers (as studies have shown the IFN response is suppressed more by COVID).
It may be that a dosage level designed for COPD is not high enough for the more suppressing COVID, however other studies have shown strong benefits of this type of interferon delivered intravenously in COVID patients therefore I don't think we should under-estimate the benefit of delivering the drug directly to the lungs. Even a smaller dosage inhaled should result in higher concentrations of IFN in the area where it's needed.
Only the results will tell us though :)
