If you're able to rummage down the back of the sofa then I think this could be the best buy around right now. Even if just for a quick buck, buying now at 322p could well see you exiting at the end of next week (after results and a day's consolidation) around the 400p mark...
Really?! I'd have considered it if we ended the week 150+ not a few percent up!
Let me apologise, I'm not sure why I'm defending the motley fool today. I just think we should be able to handle negative posts/articles and be willing to discuss the risks as well as the opportunities. Long and strong and still confident we'll get some good news to bring the sp back in line with where it was a month ago. GLA.
I'm not suggesting that the article was rich in research or insight but as I said at the time, the motley fool's target audience is newbie investors looking for long term holds. It's prudent to warn them off what might seem 'get rich quick' schemes and without doubt investing in synairgen at £2 requires a much higher risk tolerance than their usual 'tips' such as Aviva, national express, GSK etc etc.
I just didn't think it was helpful to completely disregard the articles and write them off as some sort of conspiracy.
A month or so ago everyone blew up at the negative Motley Fool articles, calling them shorters, a cabal etc etc one of the articles simply described what's happening right now... it said that there is a lot of work and a massive uphill struggle for synairgen to get this to market and so the sp could fall considerably before reaching new highs.
With the benefit of hindsight was that really as bonkers/foolish as everyone made out at the time???
Wider market is down so considering it's okay. Today's rns is certainly confirmation that this will come good...
What's frustrating is I imagine there's hundreds of people who are **** scared of getting covid that would very much like to be part of our trial if they were to know about it. I explained it to my aged parents last night and their fears both seemed alleviated on the chance of receiving inhaled interferon beta upon getting ill... of course they might get the placebo but still at 50/50 it gave them some comfort.
Seb I'm sorry to sound so dismissive but if you're going to repeat and repeat that the virus 'might or might not be weakening then simply it's not worth engaging with you'. You're right, maybe it's weakening, maybe it's not. But there's absolutely no evidence that it's weakening. So why don't we focus on what we do know rather than speculating and ruminating on the unknowns?
I think people fail to understand why the scientific advisors are concerned and instead simplify it to 'am I likely to die? No'.
If social distancing was eased up, if restrictions were lifted, covid 19 would almost certainly rip through the entire nation pretty quickly. Yes the vast majority would survive and still a large majority would either be asymptomatic or only mildly ill. But we would also see hospitalisations far exceed the number of beds/oxygen/ventilators available and the nhs would be forced to turn away sick people and leave them to die... in their thousands. The number one priority is to not allow that to happen whilst doing a better job this time around of allowing the rest of the (seriously underfunded and under resourced already) health service to run as normal...
I think that's ridiculous personally. There is no question that hospitalisations and deaths are going to rise considerably over the next few months, none at all. There are those that will still think it's worth opening up as the harm caused through mass unemployment could be greater, there will be those that don't believe the striking figures from the advisors such as 50k potential deaths this winter. But nobody besides conspiracy theorists question whether we'll see rising deaths in the very near future and there is no way big pharma is 'waiting to see' what the pandemic has in store for us first!!!
Seb, from what I can tell the scientists and top experts are not divided, they overwhelmingly believe in stiffer measures to tackle the growing covid numbers... there are scientists and experts with differing opinions and different approaches but if they are in the vast minority then I think saying they are divided as a whole is a bit misleading... Many of the contrarian scientists will have ulterior motives - challenging mainstream scientific consensus makes you stand out and gives you a larger voice and bigger profile.
Now if you were to say society is divided on how we should go about tackling the crisis, then that I'd agree with.
What we almost certainly know is that the US IIs aren't selling up. They have to report at every 5% threshold and with Venrock and Tikvah at 6.1% and 5.4% respectively it wouldn't take much selling to fall below the 5% threshold and initiate a holding rns. What we don't know is whether or not they are still stake building as it would take a lot of buying to reach 10%...
I think it's worth noting CS that not everyone is a LTH. Since you've stuck your beak in novacyt has risen near on 100% and therefore many investors will have made a small fortune as long as they ignored your scare mongering.
I'm sorry but all the companies being named MAY double over the next 24 months but are certainly not highly likely. Some of the companies mentioned are as high risk as it gets and are totally non viable as businesses right now!
I disagree with you about Boohoo, it's still growing rapidly and has the potential to reach 650 within two years for sure, but NEX could genuinely rise 200%+ by then...
I've toyed with it over the past week as I haven't banked any of my profits from pre-results and losing this money would be very, very painful. However I am trying really hard not to be swayed by sentiment and instead focus on the facts...
This is a life-changing investment opportunity and I still firmly believe synairgen are well-placed to pull it off. Sorry to see you go - all the best.
What intrigues me with you CS is you're the only deramper that shows their face now. As we creeped up a few percent day after day after day all the notables quietly stopped posting as the embarrassment of being fundamentally wrong slowly dawned on them... but you appear to be a masochist with your pants down just waiting to be spanked red raw!
I've looked the ftse up and down and I don't think there is one. Many with the potential but not with the likelihood of NEX.
