I’ve noticed the BLM have changed the e planning page so the public can’t add any comments, so they must be working this weekend. Maybe we will get the permit Sunday?

So there was 15 comments from the public. I was one, I know who another was, so it’s just another 13 to find.

On Twitter someone said
”For original EA last year regards to Merlin 1, BLM received 48 public comments, CBD also made objections, BLM approved APD on very next day of end of comments & review period”.
Is this true and does anyone know where I find it.

May I also point out out on page 41 section 2.1.19 of the EA report . That will keep our activist friends happy about the polar bears.

Absolutely, I have to admit one is mine!!

I have been talking to the BLM about the permit to drill and I'm pretty sure of the following:
The permit has been agreed in principle. The 14 day public consultation is for any comments relating to the Environmental Assessment, Decision Record or FONNSI report. So far there have been 11 feedback/comments. The BLM could use this information to possibly amend the permit but I don't think they will as they have covered all that needs to be covered and will issue the permit early part of next week.
88E must have been in close contact with the BLM for guidance on this permit and done whatever needs to be done in order for the permit to be given.
One thing that I know for sure a lot of work goes into the permits.

I appreciate your honest post. As far as I’m aware the BLM hasn’t said its only open to US citizens, etc. But all comments must be in by 4th February so anything after won’t be considered. I have already participated and it’s been accepted.

You can participate in giving comments of why the permit to drill should be granted. It is easy to do. The link is below:

Looks positive for us.

Pretty easy really. Once the permit is confirmed the price will go up steadily. Whether buying at 2.1 or 1.9p won't make any difference.

I’ve been wondering exactly why there was an extension for additional public comments on the EA to February 4, so I emailed the BLM directly. They came back today and said:
“There is no set time for a comment period, but in the past when we have had a comment period, our office has allowed 14 days. To be consistent with that timeframe we extended the time frame on this project to 14 days”.
This makes perfect sense and the timeframe all fits since an amended Right-of-Way for surface activities was issued on December 22, 2021. Super confident now.
