Profit is profit, that is if you've made it here, the shareholder is ALWAYS the last person to know when a company is making vital decisions, wish I could have told myself that years ago and I wouldn't have got burned numerous times, take the profit and run....

Could be tricky for share holders here, if the takeover dosnt happen the price will go back to where it was this time yeasterday and probably lower especially with trading update tomorrow, think the BOD here want to see it succeed on its own without any takeover.

Is a possible takeover a possibility????

When pndl floated a couple of years ago they had imo a niche market, they now don't which means they are going to haft to intice customers back in rather than them going to other pound shops/supermarkets. They have already purchased 99p stores which has had a lot of ££££ invested in getting the shops up and running, but to fall from £4.20 to a new low of £1.29 today is just mad, maybe there is something that shareholders don't know, after all they are the last people to get fed news/information.

Not the best write up in ft this morn, personally think the market needs to gain it's confidence back here and that may take a couple of years, I can see this going to £1, amazing really and never thought I'd be saying that. Supermarkets like tescos will of had an effect here too as they and others are slashing there prices to compete with the likes of lidl, aldi, poundland. Gl all here tho hope it comes good for you.

Not at all, I sold at over £4.10 which I'm very happy with, great here if you got in around £1.35 as brilliant % this week, but the way global economy looks I'm out of shares for the forceable future, gl if you gamble on anything.

The way this is dropping I wonder if there is more than meets the eye, it had a market cap of way over a billion and now it's heading to near 300million, such a massive drop in a short time.

Thanks for the advice but I sold out at £4.17 will wait for things to calm down a bit which won't be yet and then I will re-invest, and even then the way things look in general I may not. Gl tho.

Think ANY share is going to struggle for a while longer, what with the doom and gloom of the global outlook it would need a miracle for any company not to drop, compared to most Poundland have performed well, but I can certainly see them dropping to the £1 mark, next trading figures/results are crucial here, all being well then £3 end of year not impossible, obviously depending on what's happening in worldwide economy.

Isn't that what you do when you go shopping? Pop into somewhere when going or coming back???? Once the dust has settled and they have got the £££ back from firstly buying 99p stores and secondly refurbishing them which would have cost millions, then I think it will start to move north, they need to have more ideas similar to the Jane Asher products in there, I hate to say it but I had a look around poundworld recently and they seemed to have a bit more variety, but they too were very very quiet. Jim McCarthy certainly knows what he's doing but I think the way global markets are, its going to be bumpy for a while, and I never imagined it but could see this now going to £1.20ish, can it get back to the £4 region? Yes, but imo not for a good couple of years, they have got to change the fact they rely so heavily on the Christmas period otherwise yesterday's big loss will happen yearly as people's shopping patterns change too. Need to have a consistent 12 month steady shopping not one month of craziness and 11 average.

I don't think it is yet, the divi is irrelevant if the price keeps going down, the problem here now is that they rely on good trading figures for xmas and it's not as good as it once was, think the bod need to have a very deep think of how to change tactics here, lots of discount stores at the moment and supermarkets cutting things to £1 are not helping also global markets look shocking at the moment, I could now see this share actually being near £1, volatile few months ahead I think.

Yes amazed it's continually dropping, not to sure where the bottom is either, really don't think it will go up until trading figures in April, let's just hope they are good, the global situation at the moment is not good for any company, not a good time to have hard earnt ££££ in most companies at present.

I agree that this is a good company, however I think the market need to be reassured of this, and currently they're not, can see this dropping to well under £2, and then everything crossed its a good Xmas, not to sure I like the fact that they keep relying on the Xmas period tho, what about the 11 other months of the year??

I agree, had a feeling it would drop to around the £2:50 mark but didn't see it dropping so much, can now see it going well below £2 until news on the Christmas period, this has now become a longish term hold for anyone who has bought in over £3 :(

Most shops that are in town centres are busy on the weekend, you can't really tell from that, it's the mon-fri that matters and for poundland it's Nov-Dec-Jan that really matter, if those months are booming then the share price will change course before years end results next year. And proberbly more than that uk companies will hope that China and the worlds economy starts to pick up.

The way this is falling could we see it today? Amazed they have gone down so much, it's a £4 share at least but will haft to wait middle of next year, not to sure if they could even go into the £1.90 region.

Ummm think we will now see this drop to £2.50, they had to raise the ££££ somehow to fund the takeover, as per usual the shareholder suffers, let's just hope Xmas proves prosperous for you guys here, will buy back in around £2.40-60.

Ok so let's for argument sake say we acquire the 99p shops, how many millions is it going to cost to refurb all the shops?

That's the problem when one posts realistic views, it's deemed as de-ramping, sometimes the truth hurts and yesterday's RNS wasn't in my view very good, others will think differently, for me I also don't like the fact they are sooo reliant on the Xmas period, they should be aiming at 12months of the year flat out, amo though and gl.
