Think I had my paranoid head on before "just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get me". Yes, lets hope today is better than yesterday. I just wanted to get to bed and buy my head in the pillow. Seen these bad days before on the market and GBO being humpty dumptied on, it's always recovered. Hello GG, thanks for your post earlier. I am relieved I'm not in the sin bin; I was genuinely concerned. Not a good day at all for just about all of my shares so hope you had a better day. I have had a real good look and study of the latest set of results using the GB website: gb.co.uk then going to investor press releases and reading the report on there. Far more revealing. I don't see there is too much to worry about. Although overall profit was down from £0.7m to £0.6m it was after the deduction of non cash items and exceptional costs. "Non cash items are the amortisation of acquire intangible assets, share based payment charges and the share of associate investment result. Exceptional items are those costs associated with the rationalisation of acquired businesses together with fees related to acquistion activities." If you are up to it, and my head was aching beforehand, see what you make of it. There is nothing negative that I can see. Again I say that the CEO and Chairmans statements are positive along with the outlook. Results are awful to study and in my opinion not enough investors look at them carefully enough and just go on headline figures (me included), which in this case could and does give a false indication of the underlying business. Does this make sense?..............my head really is aching by the way, so I could be typing a load of gibberish (more than usual). No report from anywhere about how the meeting went yesterday regarding meeting investors a day early due to the demand. Any idea anyone?. One of these days I am going to make a point of attending a meeting, just a shame they are usually held in London, too far away...but like to be a fly on the wall.....probably get hit with a rolled up newspaper knowing my luck. Kid in a sweet shop?.........hmm........if only it wasn't our money we were spending!. Feel like I have eaten too many and may need the dentist the way things are going right now!. Thought I had been buying the best (or some of the best) and fairly confident I have but just shows at times it doesn't matter how much research you do the market can and will still stick you. I have re-read it and it could have been taken the wrong way.......it was only a leg puill, and wasn't meant to doubt your judgement, which in my opinion is very good. Hi, back again after phoning hospital for update about my Mum. Slow progress. Thanks for your kind comments. Times like this we need to check on our priorities. Re. pension funds and pension fund managers..........don't get me started!. Faceless ********s!. They take your money, make out that they are experts and have your interests at heart, lol, lose you money, CHARGE you for it, and then make out that they are doing a great job!!. Is investing in shares (I asume that is what you mean) a gamble?, well..........yes it is.......but not gambling as we know it Jim (excuse Star Trek analogy). It certainly is gambling if we do no proper research and of course is subject to conditions outside of our control ie world affairs etc. Anybody who invests on a whim or on a get rich quick scheme is likely to be burnt. We know the known and we may have an idea of what the unknown may be, but it is the "unknown unknown" as that great intellectual George W. Bush once stated that catches us out. What did the W stand for by the way?. Good luck with the pension arrangements whatever you decide; have a feeling you have far more time on your side than I have. Phew.....just spent some time trying to digest the results. Nothing we weren't really expecting, apart from GBG stating that adjusted operating profit was £0.1m ahead of what was reported in the trading update issued in October 2012. The drop in Group operating profit and Pre Tax profit can be explained (I think if my reading is correct) by the rise in amortisation of acquired intangibles, the share based payments charge and exceptional items. largely related to the acquisition of Capscan back end of last year. This would also explain the reduction in eps and basic eps due to the placement of shares 2 Nov. 2011. Critically, the Chairmans and the CEO statement and outlook are positive. Don't think there is anything to worry about despite the share price falling back a little today; not too unexpected. Nothing to set the world on fire, but sure and steadfast. I set a buy limit before work this morning form 99.25p but it didn't execute, despite trades going through for less. Consequently I was able to buy 1000 shares at a cheaper 98.88p around midday. Although the sp has fallen since then, I'm reasonably comfortable about the price. GG - can't find anything really negative. I'm not good at studying results, brain starts to hurt quickly. Good evening Mogie. Thanks for your reply, but no need to apologise. I couldn't agree with you more with your comments. I am aware of the Naked Trader and have read some of his trading diaries and looked at his trades. However, it is having read the Zulu Principle which has transformed my trading from being near disasterous to healthy (trying not to tempt fate here). Bought into PEN on Friday at just under 44p, rather fortunate timing. I only bought 2000 shares; I never invest a great deal, usually under £1000 until I am happy with my investment and can see it heading in the right direction. Then I may add to my holding; averaging UP. If it heads the wrong way then I can cut my losses if necessary without losing too much sleep, unless it tanks suddenly. I understand why investors average down but it is nearly always exactly the wrong thing to do; if the share is falling steadily it is for a reason. Locked in!......gee.......never is anyone locked in........too big to go bust!, yeah, right!. Too many investors are blinkered and have fallen in love with their investments. I have been there myself. No one likes taking a loss but that is what I did with SOU and FRR (should never have invested, a moment of rush of blood to my head and not using the ZP). By investing what I had left using the ZP I have more than made up the loss a no. of times over, whereas had I stayed in I would have losses of over 70% in both shares. Waste of time going on those boards, few want to know. Out of interest, what are the other two companies you have holdings in that fit the ZP?. I have GBG, GBO, ECK, TRCS and NET. GBO is struggling despite what on face value is going in its favour; would appear to be the Greek connection. Interested in your thoughts and views. Regards and good luck. CM

Hello GG. Thanks for your posts and your comments. Nice to hear from you. Back home after a rather testing time down South, 350 mile drive each way. Glad I made the trip but think I will be doing it again shortly. My mother had had a fall and fractured her pelvis. In a lot of pain. Believe there will be progress but it will be slow. Thankfully she has a lot of good friends close by to visit and when it comes to it to keep an eye on her. GBG - hmm, interesting comment from Naked Trader but note, he says "kinda tempting to bank a LITTLE of the profit.....". Looking at his trades it would appear he only holds 13000 shares so even if he sells the lot it shouldn't effect the price greatly, unless his readership holds a lot and decide to sell out. I'll wait and see what the results and comments are tomorrow at 7 a.m but may well set a buy limit. The share price has now risen above the lower Bollinger Band and had I not read your post and the NT comments I would be more comfortable and confident of a rise from here. At the end of the day I/we have to go with our feelings/research and not rely on others regardless of who they are. Besides, perhaps the NT wants others to sell out so he can buy in cheaper!. Only a thought. Set a buy limit on Friday with GBG at 97.5p but failed by 0.25p!, trying to be too clever. Mind you, the share price may have fallen, so who knows!. Only looking to top up with another 1000 shares. Sometimes the shares we are in are the best shares to buy more, emphasis on the word "sometimes", that is not averaging down or being blinkered to other opportunities where our hard earned money might be better employed. So what was the share you were chasing on Friday?, it wasn't PEN by any chance?. I set a buy on PEN for Friday at 44p, and found it had gone through at around 43.75p early on. A good day for that one, very unexpected. Wish I could do that every time!. Back into ATUK; you just can't stop buying the Cambridge connection can you!. There is nothing wrong with buying back into a share previously held of course, if it is for the right reasons. I haven't had a look at it, but I have confidence in you. Wish you luck GG. Hi GG, sorry its late getting back to you. It's been an eventful day. I wasn't able to trade today but kept an eye on GBG. When down 5p. I thought of you and thought that your buy order had probably gone through. Nervous times for you I should think when you saw the price fall further and for me too - how low can you go GBG. There will be a no. of investors who possibly got more nervous and sold out; they will be feeling a little sick right now. Glad I didn't join them. Not sure what will happen tomorrow, but the signs are reasonable since the price fully recovered, the worst may be over.......but.......well......we'll see. I didn't buy as many shares as I had thought about the other day, leaving some funds just in case I wanted to invest a little more.......which I may do; but not back to my initial holding. Anyway, I am so pleased for you that things turned around, hopefully giving you a peace of mind and giving you some confidence. I was thinking of your comments re. BLNX and how to answer it. I have to say that it seems you got too attached to the share, especially easy when a share does well for you. This is when our emotions take over and we can almost fall in love with it; but as I have said before, it doesn't know you, has no feeling for you, owes you nothing, but can suddenly turn and bite you. If BLNX was a fella, and had turned and cheated on you, would you feel the same way towards BLNX?...ooh, getting deep here!. No?.....so.......let it go........ I kept MONI on my watchlist for months after I sold out because it had done me so well, before losing me money fourth time around. It was like watching a former girlfriend, thinking we should still be together, still wanting to be together, but eventually I dropped it and have moved on. Hello GG, glad to hear from you, I was begining to wonder if you would turn up. Don't worry about sulking, I fully understand; feels like you've been given an unfair hiding doesn't it!. I've often been in the situation where I'm damned if I do and damned if I don't, whatever I do will be the wrong decision. But it will pass. With BLNX you were just unlucky, the drop couldn't be foreseen, you didn't make a mistake you just got caught out and although of no comfort to you, others got caught to. Personally I'd prefer the market took a breather. Be careful what you wish for GG, don't wish for the market to plummet even for the best of reasons, just wish to be able to identify those shares regardless of the market movements that are going to perform (although I do know what you mean). Bringing the release of the results forward a day due to investor demand to meet management..........I don't understand that..........are they able to have a longer slot for their meeting on the Monday rather than on the Tuesday?. Very strange, never heard of that before. Investor demand!.............private or institutional?....if it is institutional..............hmm..........like to think it would be good news. Worth a small buy in on Friday????. No, the Bolly chart is not bullish at present, but this can turn around very quickly. But of course don't know from what level. Still confident. Although the sp has fallen over the last week, I still have confidence it will rise again; quite possibly on Monday next week, if not before, when the results are released. The last rns stated: "GB Group, the identity management specialist, will be reporting the results for the six months ending 30 September 2012 on Monday 26 November, a day earlier than previously notified. Due to increased investor demand to meet the management, the Company is bringing the release of its results forward by one day." Wonder what the significance of "Due to increased investor demand to meet the management....." is?. I sold most of my shares in GBG last week, but bought back in partly yesterday at more than what I wanted to pay but (wrongly) felt that if I waited I would have to pay more. The sp is now below the lower Bollinger Band which stands at around 98.5p. If you are thinking about buying in or back in, then it may be best to wait for the sp to cross above the lower band after a turn upwards. I had thought about waiting until Friday before buying back in, but I got inpatient and timing has never been my strongest point. The fundamentals and news are still very good here. Article from GrowthCompanyInvestor today: Speech recognition and associated payments specialist reported pre-tax profits were up 8 % to £430,000 on revenues that rose 2% to £5.1m for the 6 months ended September. Cash balance remained relatively stable at £3.7m (2011, £3.7m) which produced a divident of 0.2p per share. By September this year , the group had seen its no. of clients rise to 47 - up from 38 from this time last year. A number of high profile contract wins were included in this, specifically a 3 year contract win with Whitbread to provide payment services to the Premier Inn hotel chain. The company has also insisted it still expects a second half to the year which it says would see them complete the financial year in line with expectations. It has said it needs to remain focussed not just on winning new business but remain its existing relationships with current clients to encourage repet revenue. Chief executive Nick Philpot insisted that the outlook for the company remained "bouyant" adding that the trading levels were consistent with market expectations. The trajectory of the company has been positive of late and with significant contract wins and a record no. of clients, there seems little reason not to add to your holding. Regards CM

After an absence of over a year, I have re-invested here. Fundamentals look good along with rns this morning. Don't think this will rocket, seems quiet on here. Not a huge investment. Lets see what happens. If the sp doubles in the next year as it has done since I left (at a loss) then I'll be happy. Hope this gives me some rest from turmoil elsewhere. Good luck all CM

You need someone to talk to. I'm here. Ouch!. Phew!. That's tough. Really sorry GG, you don't deserve that. Sometimes these things happen so quickly there is nothing we can do, unless we set a stop loss, but even that is no guarantee if the sp falls right through it. So, where to go from here. Well, firstly, RESIST the temptation today (at least) of going back to review BLNX price, it won't make any difference to what has happened and may make you feel worse should the sp recover and make you doubt your judgement. These happen to all of us, including me many a time, put it down to experience. Pick yourself up, dust yourself down and........well, don't be too hard on yourself. All very well putting tin hat on, trouble is, sometimes we get kicked in the old town halls or wherever. It is hard when this happens, takes so long to make a profit and can be wiped out in no time. But don't despair. A thought GG. I am no longer invested here with AIE, not sure you are, so jump over to ECK bb and lets give this bb a rest. Good luck all invested here. Regards CM

What am i doing!. Missed news from TRCS on 10 Nov. or wouldn't have sold - no rns, just on home site. Saw sp rise earlier and chased down news. Sp had jumped again each time I checked, so bought back the 250 shares sold last week at a good deal more, although with 250 shares it doesn't add up a lot. ALSO (oh blimey), bought small(ish) holding into ECK after results and contract win this a.m rns. Have held shares previously, but unlike me it was a bit of spur of themoment decision based on rns. Hmm. GG greedy or over cautious - read CM being greedy or over cautious. You SURE we are not related???. Shares going up, but not mine since I bought in....aarrgghh. Keeping watch on AIE, but wish I had sat still a little longer. Decision seemed right at time and who knows what will happen when US market opens. CM

Good morning GG. Wasn't expecting to post now but off work. Bought back into GBG early, too early it seems, at 99.64p only now to see it offered at 97.84p!, drat.............. Expected market to be up this morning after U.S yesterday and after yesterdays slight tick up with GBG. Shows I can get it wrong. Still up though from initial investment, just a little nervous now. In theory.....your theory is correct. Have a look at TRCS, SAA and ATUK, see what it shows. Of course, we don't KNOW it will happen......or we would be rich(er)......but....... Bollinger Bands are useful as an additional tool and not to be relied upon or to be used as the main indicator. ALL charts only show what HAS happened and don't tell what WILL happen. However, take particular note and warning of an unhealthy looking chart. Remember, a share which looks cheap can always get cheaper (the falling knife). I can see you using BBs in the future, quite interesting aren't they?. GBG has recrossed the lower band today. Will it stay above and head higher?. Don't know. Bands are close together. Results out next Monday, should prove good and so now may be a good time to re-enter or build a greater holding. I think I sold too many shares the other day, seemed the right thing to do at the time, not quite my panic head on, more preservation head on. US markets well up today on hope/belief that Obama will get some agreement re. fiscal cliff or at least some positive movement shortly. Additionally the trouble in the Middle East may be easing. However, we need to be careful because i read earlier that todays rally shoud be taken with a pinch of salt so don't want to be caught out in a false rally, or what is called a "suckers rally".
