Well, at the moment he’s fighting the shareholders corner on the 5% value amongst other things.

Dealts -I imagine the ongoing 5% negotiations alone is enough to prevent management from purchasing shares under stock market rules let alone anything else rumbling in the background.

Given we hit 37p ish on the froth surrounding Swag results, I imagine a real frenzy around a 50p bid (say) would drive the price quite a bit higher.

I can understand the short but not the continuing attempt to ‘protect it’ by making further shorts to keep the share price down. Isn’t this just throwing good money after bad ( from that perspective) or is it that the shorters are banking/gambling on a disappointing 5% agreement as their get out? Balls of steel if so!

Be interesting to see tonight if our RNS forces NCM to issue one of their own now as it contains material information that involves their 70% holding.

Given that we hit 38p on expectation/ froth approaching Scally results I would hope something similar happens should a bid arrive that stretches a hypothetical 40p offer.

This pre-supposes we don’t strike elsewhere in the meantime.

I guess it was always a marriage of convenience. However, NCM still need the gold to feed Telfer and GGP still need their spending power to get the mine built. SB may have been outed in his plan to get the 5% on the cheap but let's hope that he's big enough to take it on the chin and make an agreeable settlement that is part of his job after all. Get it sorted, this is becoming too much of a distraction to all parties!

In a way, holding back MRE2 (if it has been) is doing NCM's own shareholders a disservice by technically still undervaluing the 70% they currently hold.

I just don't see how NCM can get away with valuing the 5% on the original MRE. Shaun won't agree obviously and if NCM dig their heels in, we can just go through the arbitration procedure and have a fair independent valuation.

Hi Freddie, don’t think we have any lithium, but I haven’t heard anything recently about the cobalt. That may come into play at some stage.

As far as I’m aware, P.I’s are still the majority holders of stock. If a bid at say 30p were made, I wonder how may hands would stay under bums?

Speaking personally although that would represent a good profit for me, I wouldn’t vote for it. It would be interesting to see how shareholder solidarity held out ( if there is such a thing)

If a third party were to take over GGP I don’t think Newcrest would refuse to process their ore. They need it to keep Telfer running. Better to get tolling fees than pay decommissioning costs!

On this basis if there is a takeover attempt, I can see Newcrest then getting into a bidding war. This is all wild speculation though.

Agree Spy, plus a ‘lowball’ offer would technically downgrade ‘NCM’s’ current 70% holding. Don’t think their own shareholders would be too happy about that.
