It depends upon how important it is to you that you get the best price. If you're planning a medium/long term buy and hold, then the current price might be a good entry point. If you're planning to trade for a quick profit, I'd maybe wait and see. It wasn't long ago that were below 90p.
For what it's worth, I don't think charts mean much for SLP.
The share price is too dependent upon external prices - ie PGM prices. This isn't a company with fairly static input costs and a set profit margin. It won't matter how many triple bottoms or candle patterns form on the screen, if the metal prices rise, SLP will rise, if they fall, SLP will fall.
We're still emerging from covid. The cost of living is rising in Europe due to energy prices and shipping costs. There is pent up demand for cars, but economic uncertainty and rising living costs may impact that. The chip storage continues.
I'm not expecting a sudden major increase in the share price. I expect it will continue to trade in quite a large range. The upper and lower limits of that range may have moved up a bit, but I don't think we're going to be looking at a linear increase in price.
I continue to hold.

Anybody buying shares based upon that crap, needs to take a long, hard, look at themselves.
would a 30% rise within the past month be classified as 'explosive'
_________
Do you make or lose money if a share loses 40% of its value and then gains 30%? I'm not sure I'd describer that performance as 'explosive' - unless we're talking in terms of limpet mines and torpedoes.
Hi ic152,
Given your previous problems regarding exposure to SLP and consequent negative equity, it might be worth thinking about reducing your exposure. It could be a shame, if you didn't take advantage of the current prices and ended up following the price back down again (if that's what happens).

A word of caution regarding stock screening. I used to use one on telegraph.co.uk that was provided by AJ Bell. A company that came up in my screens wasn't familiar and I discovered that it had gone private some years before. It turned out the feed was completely broken and hadn't been updated for a *very* long time. It took a lot of back and forth with AJ Bell for them to even understand the issue. Once the penny dropped, they pulled the screener entirely.
Make sure you double check any data to make sure it's correct.

British (all country's?) Police forces attract completely the wrong type of people. They're pathologically insecure and *demand* respect, whilst behaving like thugs and bullies. I've had a couple of encounters and I quickly realised they're not in the public's side. The entire enterprise is completely self serving.
Bid = 91p
Ask = 93p
Price = 94p?
How does that work?

@Stoodio
I think your timeframes for a turnaround are far too optimistic (a bit like Velo's 'blow your socks off July', which turned into August, which turned into radio silence).
The manufacturers of catalytic convertors will be holding a lot of inventory right now and may also be holding quantities of PGM metals for future production. It will take a long time to work through the stockpiles of parts and I doubt that will see PGMs rising within the next three months - especially, as the chip shortages won't actually be over. They're just predicted to ease.
You may be correct regarding the microchip shortages, but I would be very careful interpreting the charts as anything meaningful - there are too many external forces at play for them to mean anything.

The lows of 19/07/21 and 09/08/21 could have been interpreted as a double bottom and we're now well below those prices.
If I were looking to buy in, I'd be doing it via an automated trade set to 87p or possibly even lower. We've been there a few times recently!
