Yet there is still confidence in battery metals ....Blackwater founder launches fund to invest in car battery metals: FT (Reuters) - Erik Prince, who founded the private security company Blackwater, is launching a fund to invest in metals used in electric vehicle batteries, he told the Financial Times. The fund aims to raise up to $500 million and will invest in deposits of metals such as cobalt, copper and lithium, largely in Africa and Asia, he told the newspaper. Prince said the fund would bring unexplored deposits into production and then sell them to larger mining companies, often based in China.” Let’s hope the fund takes an interest in SAV.

Today’s drop would make you think that a serious sell-off had taken place but buys and sells were reasonably balanced. Looking at the year low in April of 5.1p and the year high of 15.25p in June (on modest news), makes me wonder what price can be achieved in 2019 if even half the expectations are fulfilled. I’m pretty sure that investors will return en made in the New Year.

Well, we know this “Reasons for Trading halt- Imminent finalisation of an agreement for an investment by a third party into Al Hadeetha Resources LLC (AHR), the joint venture company in which Alara holds its (currently 70%) interest in the Al Hadeetha Copper Project in Oman.” So it’s just a matter of a name and how much. I am guessing it’s Omani as the scale is probably not going to attract international interest. For that I can wait until tomorrow.

I have a bit of experience in industry-university partnerships and one thing they also do is open up opportunities to bid for EU funding. This often requires or is strengthened by having a university in the bid consortium. With promises of EU funding for Lithium battery and value chain development, this could be crucial to our success.

Trading halt pending an announcement......Oman copper development?

I note that Triton has approval for graphite mining from Mozgov exactly one year after a DFS was completed. We are currently completing the Pre feasibility study. Are we still years away from getting a green light in Moz?

As mentioned before I have had lustful thoughts about the new Jaguar iPace but driving home on the M25 in my XF last night I wondered if I would be happy in a car that only made wind and tyre noise? I realised how much you drive by “ ear” getting feedback from the engine noise. I imagine you get used to it but does it take something away from the experience? I expect we would replace the wife’s road tax free Eco-drive Volvo V40 first when an electric one becomes available as it doesn’t travel far outside Chelmsford in the normal course of events. Will be in Northern Ireland over Xmas so will look out for any Zoes in distress!

.....and this is only by-product news...talk of offtake agreements for these reminds us of the discussions which must be well advanced on the mainstream pegmatite product. The current SP just doesn’t reflect the forecast NPV which we knew already but is now compounded!

Wraith, just FYI, the Slipstream SAV share acquisition was as a result of SAV buying the Portuguese asset from Slipstream rather than an investment in SAV. Our technical director, Dale Ferguson Is a Slipstream Director/shareholder so I imagine it was a win/win for him!

Thanks but I’m not sure how you feel agreement with my points aligns with your conclusions? The context of my comments was “ is Martin to blame for lack of a lithium deal?”. My answer is no, it falls on the Board to deliver that by March 09. I am not yet unhappy, nor am I selling or seeing any good reason why others should. Fear, impatience, poor timing are the reasons for that. We are only following the current sector trend, in fact not suffering as much as our peers. If you are looking for a low buy-in point, now is probably your best opportunity?

Under the Long Term Incentive Plan for Portugal the goal is for :Feasibility study completed and a strategic initiative entered into (e.g. securing major industry contract/alliance/offtake/equity investment from the lithium industry) by March 2019. Martin is not included in this, only Board members so it’s their responsibility and incentive to deliver. Oman drilling has been missed, Moz needs a mining licence as well as a PFS by March. Somehow I doubt Moz will pay out. That just leaves Portugal for one out of three. If that doesn’t happen it will be a poor show!

I would hope so IB provided the downside is not more severe as to wipe out that 10% gain!

Thanks for the guidance. Any views on the lithium miners’ chances of recovery from this vicious decline in the foreseeable future?
