Irrespective of the European need for lithium etc our SP boils down to whether folks like you and me are prepared to buy SAV shares. The whole junior mining sector hasn’t attracted as much speculative capital as expected. That money seems to have gone into the various bitcoin opportunities. We are also a bit too small to attract institutional buying and of course, other European lithium juniors are available. We know what the way forward is - EIA, DFS, partnerships and offtake then production or buyout. It’s been slow, will continue to be slow and patience is unfortunately required in no small measure.

If you wanted to take a sizeable stake in this business a parcel of 35.5 million shares would be a good place to start.

Is it rather related to the 500k sale at 12:07 yesterday? Just grasping at straws really. Would like to reinvest my BCN gains at some point. I’ve noticed the price usually slumps on Friday afternoon as if weekly traders are liquidating positions? We will have to see.

Nothing that SAV are in a position to comment on I fear. There will be an election causing political uncertainty in the run-up which has some unknown outcomes and uncertainties. Nothing fundamental has changed, just the potential for delays in decision making. A couple of months possible delay doesn’t amount to much in the grand scheme of things.

Yes as I feared the issue of licences was the dying act of the current administration. Couldn’t have come at a more awkward time as strong political leadership is required to champion the “lithium dream” for Portugal. If the system is the same as in the UK then a period of purdah will exist until the election in January when no new political actions can be taken by the sitting government. Looks like the socialist who voted down the budget will prevail with 52% of the vote. Not sure if they are more aligned to the protester’s cause but you can be sure that mining will be a big issue. Not sure if the EU will take any budgetary support action either until the new year.

A useful source of info, thanks IB. It may or may not lead to elections. If it does, I can’t see much progress being made politically. If it doesn’t then it’s hopefully business as usual.

This adds a degree of uncertainty as the next administration’s enthusiasm for mining lithium is as yet unknown. Will the DIA be delayed or proceed as previously anticipated? Political developments over the next month or so will need to be monitored.

I’m expecting news on Moz before year end. I am advised by SAV that this timetable remains realistic.

I don’t think the EIA approval needs to await this Aarhus appeal. It’s really about process and procedure rather than the issue of mining approval.

Well when you read the document you kindly provided the link to, the only tangible issue the Mayor of Boticas seems to have is that the consultation papers we’re provided electronically rather than in paper form thus making it inaccessible to residents who were not in possession of a computer or smartphone? I dare say that Portugal like the UKGOV and others is trying to do all business paperless and avoiding the needless felling of trees?
Rather than complaining the Mayor could rather take some action himself and make the document accessible to the most vulnerable and info-excluded parts of the population in his council area. That might of course be regarded as being too helpful to the process and it would seem he finds it politically desirable to align with protest groups rather than do something useful?

…this morning. Seemed like the right time to secure profits as I believe this is moving towards stalemate with the Mexican government. Additionally with M&G capitulating and the other spineless jellyfish fund managers likely to follow suit, I suspect that no better deal will need to be made, certainly not while there is a “Mexican standoff” with the authorities. Time top up my holding in SAV which has a supportive government and European lithium strategy.

Ah BSMA, still looking for some schadenfreude from selling out some time ago? You will only find optimism here now with a nice continued steady climb expected in the coming months. Why not buy a few and stop being so miserable?

Mexico’s trade with China is 10% of its total while with the US is 60%. Most of the trade is very much in China’s favour so if anything I would say that China doesn’t want to upset the Mexican government? Mexico doesn’t want to upset the US either by getting too close to China. So I think the Mexican government feels free to decide what is best for its economy and if necessary to block the deal.
Likewise lithium commodity price rises benefit producers primarily and if Gangfeng is taking all the future output, they will not be selling on the merchant market.
Personally I think we are about to enter a period of enduring stalemate which will benefit no one, especially shareholders.

Blocking the takeover will stop an unpopular deal going through but what do you think that will do to the SP?
