Crypto companies are already being affected. Bitcoin miner Cormint received a notice from Ercot on Tuesday that his project outside Fort Stockton was reduced to 25 megawatts, said CEO James McAvity. The company already had 130 megawatt approval from its utility company, Texas-New Mexico Power Co., but will now need to undergo Ercot's review to increase its capacity, he said. The site is expected to start operating in a few months.

“I hope we have enough time to gain clarity and that it doesn't derail the investment,” McAvity said in an interview at a bitcoin conference in Houston. “If it takes three months, it will annihilate our project.”

And just to be clear i own no shares in Mara or any miners at this time. I’ll be on at certain prices but not yet.

I sold Mara at a minuscule profit when the Texas Ercot energisation approval bs was made public, I suggested it was a good idea to sell any Texas based miners because of that.

How likely do you think that you’re going to see big blackouts during weather crises?

Well, I’ll give you maybe an answer you weren’t expecting. Through the end of the year, we are not going to see a blackout. We are running our grid right now in a very expensive way in order to prevent blackouts. And I think that has everything to do with the politics of Texas. We have a gubernatorial election coming up in November. The incumbent, Greg Abbott, absolutely does not want another blackout. So through the end of the year, a 100 percent no blackouts. I can almost guarantee that.

What happens next year, the legislature comes to town, new laws, new rules, and then it’s anyone’s guess. If there’s no political price to be paid for the increasingly high power prices that we’re facing, then it’s not clear to me whether the tough decisions will be implemented in the Texas Capitol. At that point, we probably will see more blackouts and more problems down the line. That’s frightening.

No blackouts and we are running our grid in a very expensive way.

I think we can safely say no ppa till 2023
