RE: Darren CEO Apologies11 Apr 2026 10:29
Sakura7 - Darren has put the Nicaragua team together from people that he has worked with in the past and the people he has picked are currently performing better than expected.
Darren and his team in the Philippines turned around the Runruno mine by tweaking and improving processes that resulted in higher gold recoveries and higher throughput which, along with an increase in POG, helped pay off the huge pile of accumulated debt well ahead of schedule.
Darren and his BoD then got rid of a trouble causing major shareholder, who was holding back the BoD from actively pursuing M&A opportunities, by buying all their shares for 5p each and putting them in Treasury. A few months later MTL bought CNR and here we all are, just over a year later, looking forward to the new mine being completed and first pour by the end of the year. That will then trigger the first CVR payout 15 business days later.
Yes he is just doing his job but he is using all of his relevant skills, expertise and knowledge in the areas of mining, engineering and business to have accomplished the enormous turnaround of MTL's fortunes.
Shareholders here from the time of Darren's appointment, just over 9 years ago, have seen the SP rise from 0.45p upto 19.20p (only 0.8p off from getting giddy EL π) less than 3 months ago.
On any metric, Darren and his team have done and are continuing to do an excellent job here. His previous background and accomplishments, along with the fact that Mr Candy headhunted him, encouraged me to add an additional Β£100k here on top of my initial Β£5k to give me a 1.62p average for my 6.5m shares.
Hero!! Messiah!! Too emotional for me and emotions shouldn't be anywhere near investment decisions.
