The latest Investing Matters Podcast episode featuring financial educator and author Jared Dillian has been released. Listen here.
Odins, - Your 12:20 of 26 Sept re-Biscathorpe. What happens if UJO win the appeal? My apologies but I have simply lost touch with the situation. Any comments to enlighten me are welcome? I never had a job which allowed me 48 weeks to come to a decision - 48 hours max.

Anyone for cricket, I respect your comments, however DB (UJO) has a problem. In respect of some of UJO's holdings his partners don't have any CASH! What would you do if you were sitting in DB's boots? I think he has to be pragmatic and wait for things to turn up. I am at a loss as to what I would do and do not have any good recommendations . I do not want the SP to fall, quite the opposite. I agree with your last sentence.

Gwynwin and Bryanryquinn - I can do the arithmetic: your answers are too simplistic. The point was what price per share would you have to pay to acquire(buy) 6.3million shares . That is nearly six percent of the current available shares. I very much doubt that the buying price of each share would remain at 20.25pence! My last comment, come back in a year's time stands. I am backing David B.

Anyone for cricket. Life is so wonderful when you can 'job' backwards and reminisce over others so called 'mistakes'!
If you wanted to buy 6,300,000 shares in UJO over the next week how much do you think you would pay for them? Put a note in your diary and repeat your post in a year's time.

So half a million shares sold so far today; II's looking for income?
I am still positive with 20.8% discount to NAV (end July).

1269.5p to Buy - So on 30 July 2023 JPMorgan target price was 1719p - That would be 35% mark up - so FTSE250 gets a hiccup - Are things really that bad or has a trader sold 25m shares?
Apologies - Too much PASTE, not enough CUT.

NAV end July 2402p. Price to buy 1852p.
22.9% discount to NAV.
Surely there is no contest! It is a BUY, ask the Board?

Tambo210 - you sound negative, noticed 1/2 yr. comment in Inv. Chr. - down 12p or 4 and a half % since priced at 268p. I have been a follower for many years but never dipped my toes in the water. Have you faith in the directors management?

Rojo - I did not expect to see an Inv. Chr. article, perhaps that spiked some interest? My first investment in Goodwin was in December 2009 - 2050 shares at £10. Have sold and bought since then.

RoJo - Having seen the Prelims I think the shares will drift back. If you pay 4800 to buy that gives a P/E of 23.9. Anticipated dividend gives a yield of 2.4%. I am not rebuying at this level.
The real killer is the spread when trading is at such a low level

Buybacks - So far we have spent £1,735,162 purchasing 6.3m shares, that is an average price of 27.5423p per share. I, contrary to many others I approve of this action. Why?
1) If this asset is given away in dividends at this time it is lost to the company.
2) I believe that the shares are undervalued.
3) It is an asset in our back pocket, the time will come to use it.
Contradict in haste if you must - My defence is: - Only time will tell if I am right.

Ians12345 - well noted - Apparently the Fidelity manager does not like RCP at 17.43% discount to NAV (2364p) - The Rothchild's pre-empted his statements with a rebuttal some weeks ago.
I am sticking with RCP - It would be nice to be right!

I has been a long time since I can remember having really enjoyed reading a sequence of the UJO CHAT contributions. In the postings in the last 36 hours I have read reasoned argument, ideas, constructive suggestions, theories, polite controversy and DB praise with minimal abuse.
Fortunately I have my yellow coffins containing about eight subscribers.
Thanks are due to GOD, HDT, Its a wrap and TAC. Keep up the good work, apologies for any omissions from my thanks list.

In my 10:08 message on 9 June 2023 I stated: -
'What has changed? I don't believe that the current SP will be maintained. CHAT'
So on Friday I sold 35% of my holding at 4485p average, put my words into action (partly).
I now have a bundle of cash in my S and S ISA.
Only time will tell if I am doing the right thing.

So the deal has been done - Everyone that said 'yes' to the minimum got the minimum in cash at £48 - some that tendered for more than their minimum got more cashed in at £48. So a fair value? £38.55 before. Tender £48.00. Difference £9.45.
2.34% less shares so £38.55/0.9766 = £38.91. We have had the first half results which the Board has indicated will be reflected in the second half. So where does the true value lie? You believed £39? in MAY 2023. What has changed? I don't believe that the current SP will be maintained. CHAT
