If my memory is not playing tricks on me; I think Dr C mentions that they would give a bulk discount for such volume orders in one of the video interviews he did a while back? Maybe the Pr0active one? can't remember which off hand.

I'm sure the NHS will expect a bit knocked off from the full retail price, but with very large orders RMS could make good money even with slightly lesser margins, and help the nation fight the pandemic to boot.

@D-Geeman That will be helpful. I expect the real picture will be that there are differences in what PPE dentists use dependent upon what task they are performing and quite possible with some level of discretion.

For example; When I had my tooth drilled at the height of the lockdown, the dentist doing the drilling was head to toe in protective gear, N95 and face visor. Despite being in agony myself I felt really sorry for her as she was overheating really badly and I was worried she might pass out.

However the dentist I saw to consult with before I went for the drilling was wearing a surgical type mask, as was the hygienist.

No-one goes to the Dentist!..They go to a dental practice and that includes not just the Dentist doing the actual treatment but all the other support staff to allow that dentist to deliver an end to end service.

I don't think we can second guess exactly which staff will use the mask and when. It doesn't need to be every member of staff all the time. Last time I was at the dentist there were 4 or 5 staff on reception dealing with bookings etc..

The mask would be very useful for the non-clinical staff who probably have to work there for about 7 hours at a time.

Legionaries is a huge issue for air condition systems. It's caused by Legionella bacteria, so it makes perfect sense to use our anti-microbial material here.

Removing the risk of Legionaries will remove a liability for the operator of the AC unit, so could justify a higher price just for that.

I've got to say I think we have all been swept up in the moment and ended up arguing about the wrong things. IMHO There was never much chance that the mask would have significant effect on the worldwide pandemic since it's not yet being manufactured in sufficient volume, and probably never could have been. Not in time for this pandemic. It's not about if the machine can make 5m pm or not. Or even if the urgent need is there abroad or if there will be a new variant and an enhanced need in autumn. Of course I hope we can do what we can in an emergency and get as many masks out to the people who need them as possible but what I'm trying to say is that this is and has always been a longer term proposition.

It can be seen from the RNS that the BOD when evaluating the new products have paid particular attention to their utility long term and making sure the market for them is there. I am sure they will have done the same with the mask.

In the job advert it talks about the aim for the masks to become a minimum standard.

"We believe that our unique anti-viral face mask technology should be the new minimum standard globally and we are ambitious in our quest to ensure that everyone has access."

That means a step change in the system to eventually say all masks must be this good or better.

People asking the question who would pay more for an antiviral mask when there are cheap alternatives without the anti viral material available are IMHO missing the point.

It's like saying who would pay more for fire proof cladding before Grenfell.

There will be reviews of how this pandemic was handled for years to come and lessons learned will drive new legislation. If the antiviral mask does end up as the new minimum standard we will need a bigger boat after all. Maybe a whole fleet of them.

Sounds like Dr Cave is an interesting character to work with; Constantly popping multi-million pound ideas out of that massive braid of his. What we need now is ti build up the team around him with the skills to take those ideas, run with them and get them to market.

They have done an awful lot in such a short space of time. Looking forward to seeing this company grow from here.

Lemu machine and 5m pm (potential) is just a drop in the ocean. Always going to need to outsource manufacturing to 3rd parties(like Volz) to reach the anticipated sales volumes.

There is a much greater emphasis on doing what is best for the society/group rather then the individual.

This works best in pandemics. In the west you eventually get there. Like historically when the rich invested in better sanitation for the poor to fight Cholera because they realised if the poor get it then they spread it to the rich. It's the same with this virus.

With mask wearing it's all about, 'I wear a mask to protect others, and then others wear a mask to protect me'. Too many selfish c***s in the UK.

@Bristolcupid That's a good point about individual wrapping.

I wonder if Volz could make some like that. It doesn't have to be all of them, just when people purchase who know they want to break them up out of the main box to give to their staff.

They shouldn't bother trying to do that at Biocity, once they get it running they should never play with it again.It#s obvious they are out of their depth with the manufacturing side, but at least they have finally realised that and will outsource in future.

For me the RNS was good news. We have been watching for some time and asking why the Amazon listing wasn't happening, why Torr shut up shop, why no big contracts landed for NHS/others, and now we have the answer, they have been struggling to make the product and so have not been trying very hard to sell them.

That has all changed now. Those roadblocks are behind them. I still have confidence that there is a strong market for a Covid killing mask in a Covid pandemic and now they are going to chase the sales we might finally see some positive news come through in the near future.

Things may be getting better in the UK but the virus continues to be bad around the world and there is still possibility that we end up with a 3rd wave of variants here in Autumn. I hope we don't but if we do I want RMS to be there to step in and help out with a mask that is actually available to buy in quantity.

SP is awful though. Sooner they can give us something good the better.
