Sales are no better than this time last year, and they needed to drastically improve to match both the company forecasts and consensus of analysts.

2/3rds of the way through Q3 and no improvement means missing targets for 2024.

All these people who think new cars will increase sales, said the same thing when the db11 was launched, and the db10, and DBX, Valkyrie etc

The problem this time around is that AML have spent so much money designing and making them.

Look at Valkyrie, it nearly finished the company!

No wonder Valhalla is way behind the original release date, they can't afford it.

If not, I will, it's a lot more than 100% over it's lifespan, which is around 10 years.

Why don't you go away and calculate how much it's been since Stroll bought AML? Then you'll find it it's far more than 100%, much more, especially if he reinvested the interest every time they raise cash and new debt. Like last month.

And thanks for pointing out that borrowing £135m is costing them ANOTHER £78.8m in interest alone.

Because Stroll and chums are the bondholders, making 10%+ every year, effectively doubling his money in 5 years.

I posted it to see if there might be some intelligent discussion around whether AML were liable for the £15k payment per car, or if they were exempt due to being a low volume producer, but I should have known better.

The important difference is Bentley is owned by VW group, AML has no parent group to help fund itself.

Economies of scale, shared technology, parts, shared R&D costs etc.

It's why VW bought all those brands and exactly why AML is struggling on its own

So you made a point of sharing every single purchase on here, but sell on the quiet and expect everyone to believe you. Your faith in Stroll didn't waver at £14 like YOU said it would, but it did waver when you sold in 2023, real classy.

July 2023: 63

July 2024: 32

Larry, you are supposed to be doubling sales, not halving them.

If all cars are made to order, why are there so many new cars, or cars with delivery miles on websites for sale at a discount?

Not selling enough cars? Let's hike the price substantially so the old fanboys can't afford it and sell even fewer. The young team would rather buy Lambo or Ferrari because they don't lose so much money on resale.

The problem is, new cars are not selling any better than old cars, look at cars.com

New cars with a few miles on them at a discount already. Not a good sign at all.

Do Ferrari do that? No chance.

Higher price cars will just lose more money, something rich people avoid.

Oh, for the confidence of an Aston Martin Lagonda (AML) investor. The maker of luxury sports cars has raised the thick end of £1bn from new and existing shareholders in a little under two years, yet its half-year results show that it is still racking up substantial losses and its net debt is almost as high as when it started, at around £1.2bn.

The sticking point, however, remains its substantial cash burn. Aston Martin recorded a free cash outflow of £313mn during the first half, which included £200mn of capex on its “future product pipeline” and a working capital spend of £119mn.

Executive chair Lawrence Stroll argued that Aston Martin’s new models would support “volume growth and sustainable free cash flow generation later this year”, and the shares jumped by 10 per cent.

It’s admirable that he’s made this pledge, but to be frank we’ll believe it when we see it. We’ve argued for some time Aston Martin will only be worthy of a reassessment once the company starts to generate meaningful free cash flow. Until then, the risk of further dilution remains. Sell.

Not long til the next cash raise. This one will probably be a private dilution, PIF geely and merc sink more money in equally. So private shareholders get diluted but can’t buy more shares cheaply.

Still laughing my ass off at Paul aml007 saying his faith in Stroll would be lost at £14… now it’s under 1/10th of that and he still thinks he is a decent investor who should be listened to.

Guys like that never admit they are wrong.
