No that's not correct...You can't obtain the cobalt concentrate without super heating the copper to boiling point and collecting the cobalt distilate. Otherwise they'd be no need for the refinery at sable.

It's a cobalt concentrate because cobalt isn't the only impurity present in copper. JLP doesn't have the capaicty to then further seperate the impurites frim the cobalt. This would require a mulit level condenser similary to how oil is refined. Like hydrocarbons, metals also boil and condense at different temps

Your are 100% correct.

The "boiling" occurs at the refining stage ie the turning of the treated copper concentrate into copper cathode. It's the vapour from the boiling that is condensed into cobalt.

Cobalt is the reason why copper pipes and such turn green when oxygenated. By refining (boiling the copper) you remove the impurities. Watch some youtube videos of people smelting copper, you can sometimes see the green gas escapaping from the furnace.

There are no costs to jlp for cobalt production, you guys really need to wake up and learn the actual processes involved.

The entirety of the processing costs at sable is to copper.

They process ****, with CIL a method then refine the concentrate to copper cathode... The refining process to cathode is so hot it super heats the metal and releases the impurities (cobalt) as a gas. As the gas cools it condenses and can be collected as cobalt and sold. The copper cathode is then sold which covers the processing costs (just about).

The earner is in how much of the gas they can actually condense and collect.

Cobalt is a downstream recovery, there are no costs attributable to cobalt... Do any of you ramping clowns actually have any idea of what's going on here?

Rh and pal the leading portion of JLP's revenue has been getting battered for months and copper doesn't make any money for JLP as it barely covers costs, the sable earnings are attributable to the downstream cobalt.

No cobalt sales and the earnings here will look terrible compared to when the PGM baskets where at all time record highs
