I have said for a while now that one of the parties does not like their risk / reward (quasi equity risk for actual debt / mez return) and is trying to negotiate themselves into a more rewarding / less risky position against other parties not willing to move over.

If this were just a case of willing parties ticking formalities and doing paperwork, no matter how complex the deal it would have been done months if not years ago.
