Who is it then?

A cheap and widely available drug called dexamethasone can help save the lives of patients who are seriously ill with coronavirus.

UK experts say the low-dose steroid treatment is a major breakthrough in the fight against the deadly virus.

It cut the risk of death by a third for patients on ventilators. For those on oxygen, it cut deaths by a fifth.

The drug is part of the world's biggest trial testing existing treatments to see if they also work for coronavirus.

Researchers estimate that if the drug had been available in the UK from the start of the coronavirus pandemic up to 5,000 lives could have been saved. Because it is cheap, it could also be of huge benefit in poor countries struggling with high numbers of Covid-19 patients.

About 19 out of 20 patients who get coronavirus get better without coming to hospital. Of those who are admitted to hospital, most also get better, but some may need oxygen or mechanical ventilation. These are the high risk patients that dexamethasone appears to help.

The drug is already used to reduce inflammation in a range of other conditions, and it appears that it helps stop some of the damage that can happen when the body's immune system goes into overdrive as it tries to fight off coronavirus.

Any chance of our politicians seeing it and taking notice? I really thought Boris was great for Brexit.... but Covid19 I am not so certain. If we look at Germany with less than 9K deaths with nearly 20 million more population, WTF happened here! .. and we are an island so easy to lock down. Unbelievable really

We need to get this out to all the media for the morning and make headlines, then maybe the Gov may take it seriously and invest just a little bit into Scancell. Can anyone with IT do this on our BB?

Needs more publicity, or we may just slip back as usual.

Where to next, 3 minutes is not enough for such a great little Bio and a vaccine that could change the new normal back to normal.

How can we, yes us, do this? Any thoughts from this amazing BB to push this on.

Afternoon C7, yep managed to get some at a fair price, but my average must be still way high. I have them all over the place in family ISA's so don't quite know my average now, but guessing still up above 20p. Maybe have to consider a few more top ups while the price is so low, unless I get scuppered by an RNS!

I guess flights have opened up again and everybody has gone on holiday to Guernsey or New Zealand

Just managed a little top-up today of 85K, should help me to average down a little.

Was going to buy a 100K today into my ISA, but spent over an hour with HSBC Investdirect only to find it takes 48 hours to renew the ISA for this year. Hope the price stays low for a little while, will buy asap if it stays sub 6p. HSBC staff are mostly working from home so no back office, so slow and stop really, very bad service IMO.

I will give it a go tomorrow to see if they speed up a little, but ask the rampers to keep the SP low please for me.

Very true statement shareguard, always one step behind with our great little Bio.

I have never quite figured out why we are out in the wilderness, especially with what great products we have, but of course I have followed this bio for many years so may be biased.

Another day gone by... Oh how I miss being in my little group, children and grandchildren, I guess it shows that in our current situation how important our close connections are. Perhaps it may be a wake up call to all of us.

I have known you now for many years and we still talk about our little jet trip from Gloucester to East Midlands Airport and of course Krafty "let us spray" It was good of him to do the drive to Glo.

Would be nice someday if you could come out to Naples, FL even for a few weeks with us, the office girls still talk about you.
