RE: Awarded an £896,088 non-dilutive grant from Innovate UK under the Biomedical Catalyst 20254 Jun 2026 07:27
Why the market might react strongly
The current valuation is only around £8.5m.
For comparison:
* Plenty of UK biotech companies with no Phase 2 programme trade at £15m-30m.
* Successful Phase 2 oncology companies can trade at tens or even hundreds of millions.
Of course most trials fail, so you can’t value it on success today.
What I think
If I owned shares, I’d view this as one of the strongest possible pieces of news short of:
* actual patient dosing,
* positive efficacy data,
* or a licensing deal.
It’s not proof the drug works.
But it:
* adds cash,
* reduces dilution risk,
* validates the science,
* and funds progress toward the key value inflection point.
For an £8.5m company, I’d class this as very good news and probably more important than the recent placing itself, because it suggests respected third parties are willing to fund the programme rather than shareholders having to fund everything.
